Stoke 'doesn't want politics of hate'published at 12:33 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2017
The Labour MP for Stoke-on-Trent North, Ruth Smeeth, says she's not worried about UKIP closing the gap on her party in the city.
Speaking to BBC Radio Stoke, she said voters had spoken "clearly" that they don't want a "city of hate and division".
Quote Message[UKIP's] share of the vote only went up by 2% and they spent more money than a political campaign has ever spent in this city trying to gain peoples' votes. I think the city spoke, they were quite clear, they didn't want the politics of hate and division that UKIP represent."
