    McCarthy's been speaking to BBC Suffolk ahead of the two team's clash at Portman Road tomorrow.

    "He's a great guy, I really like Simon," said McCarthy. "He's done the rounds, he's done his badges and learned the trade.

    "Wherever he's been he's had an impact and done a good job. His teams are always well organised, disciplined, they work hard and try to play their football off the shape of the team."

    Ipswich Town, external boss Mick McCarthy has denied speculation that he was keen on bringing West Ham winger Martin Samuelsen to Portman Road.

    The 19-year-old Norwegian joined Blackburn on loan yesterday, after being heavily linked to the Blues.

    "I like Martin, I saw him play the other night," McCarthy admitted. "But I do think that we have enough young ones in the team and the Championship is a brutal league.

    "A bit of Championship experience would be my preference, so we never really got to that stage (of trying to do a deal for Samuelsen). There were a lot of clubs looking at him."

    Two adults and two children were taken to hospital late last night, after a speedboat collided with a stationary vessel in Oulton Broad.

    Emergency services, including the Lowestoft and Southwold Coastguard Rescue Teams, external were contacted at around 23:15.

    Fire crews say when they arrived there were four people on the shore who were taken to hospital by the ambulance service.

    A search of the area was carried out and no further people were found.

  10. Train operator 'very sorry' about five-hour delaypublished at 17:24 British Summer Time 25 August 2016

    We told you earlier how train passengers on last night's Liverpool Street to Norwich service endured a "nightmare" five-hour journey after a slew of problems on the day Abellio Greater Anglia officially signed a new deal for the network.

    Commuter Anthony Fan said a fellow passenger fainted after serious delays on the hottest day of the year.

    A spokeswoman for the train operator said they were "very sorry for the frustration and inconvenience", with the delays caused by a "fault" on the 19:00 train out of London.

    "We got another train to call at Shenfield to pick up these affected passengers and take them to Ipswich, where they caught a further train to Norwich," she said.

    "But unfortunately these services were affected by Network Rail heat-related speed restrictions and also planned engineering works between Ipswich and Stowmarket."

    Affected passengers can claim compensation, external, she added.

  11. Walberswick residents to be asked if they want to abolish their parish councilpublished at 17:21 British Summer Time 25 August 2016

    After six years of bitter wrangling involving Freedom of Information requests and alleged email bombardments, residents of Walberswick are to be asked if they want to abolish their parish council.

    They will be asked to consider a new form of local governance, known as a "parish meeting".

    Esme Richardson, chairman of the parish council, said the wrangling had paralysed local democracy and led to the resignation of the parish clerk, who only took up the post at the beginning of August.

    She said: "We're sorry to lose her but the circumstances are untenable for a clerk in Walberswick Parish Council.

    "For the last six years Walberswick Parish Council has been paralysed by repetitive letters, emails and Freedom of Information requests.

    "With a parish meeting everybody in the village has a right to vote on matters that are important to themselves."

    The plans will go on view next month.

  12. Rail disruption for commuterspublished at 17:09 British Summer Time 25 August 2016

    Passengers travelling to and from Norwich are facing disruption because of a broken down, external train just outside the station.

    It's affecting routes between Liverpool Street and Norwich, and between Norwich and Cambridge via Ely. 

    Abellio Greater Anglia advises that the disruption is likely to continue until 18:00.

    The principal of Felixstowe Academy has described the death of 12-year-old Matthew Wooby as "an extremely unforeseen and tragic loss to our school community".

    Anthony Williams said: "He was a lovely student who had a very engaging personality and grew in confidence during his time at the academy. 

    "There was one reported incident of bullying that involved Matthew and this was dealt with swiftly, in line with the academy’s anti-bullying policy.

    "I have kept in contact with the family a number of times and want to express the remarkable courage and dignity they have shown following the tragic loss of their beloved son Matthew."

    An e-fit image of a man wanted in connection with a rape at Melton railway station has been released by British Transport Police.

    The incident happened just before 21:50 on 19 July when the woman was waiting for a train to Ipswich.

    Det Insp Ian Trantum said: "The victim has been left shaken by this assault, and we have specialist officers supporting her throughout this ordeal.

    "We know Melton and the surrounding area is a close community and we hope someone may recognise this man and will get in touch."

    The parents of Matthew Wooby, who died at his home in Trimley St Martin in February, have paid tribute to their son, saying: "We are devastated and heartbroken at the loss of our kind, loving, funny, beautiful and amazing son Matthew.

    "We hope that by raising awareness of bullying that no other family will have to suffer what we have to cope with every day."

    A verdict of misadventure was recorded at an inquest into Matthew's death earlier today.

    The inquest into the death of a 12-year-old boy from Trimley St Martin heard that he came from a "loving, close" family but had "bullying issues" at Felixstowe Academy.

    Matthew Wooby's father told the hearing at IP City: "It's my personal conclusion that he was so unhappy because he was being bullied. He went into a spiral of depression which I didn't notice at the time.

    "I think he took his own life on purpose because he was so depressed."

    Felixstowe Academy has been asked to comment.

    The assistant coroner Nigel Parsley recorded a verdict of misadventure.

    A "kind, loving, and funny" 12-year-old boy was found dead after being bullied at school, an inquest has heard.

    Matthew Wooby, from Trimley St Martin, was discovered in February by his parents with a ligature round his neck.

    His father, David Wooby, told the inquest in Ipswich he believed his son had been in a "spiral" of depression and had purposely taken his own life.

    But assistant coroner Nigel Parsley described it as a "truly tragic" case and recorded a verdict of misadventure.

    Ipswich Town manager Mick McCarthy has confirmed that Everton loanee Conor Grant is still injured and will not feature for the Blues this weekend.

    The 21-year-old has not played since Town lost 2-0 at Brentford, having picked up a groin injury in training just a few days later.

    "He has been training with the physios this week and they're pleased with him, but they agree the Preston game is a bit soon," McCarthy said. 

    "It would be ridiculous if we rushed him back and then he picked up another injury and we lost him again."
