    You couldn't make it up. Last night, 24 hours before the Ipswich Pigs Gone Wild, external art trail ends, a real pig went walkabout in the town.

    Police were called after the pig - named Pog - was spotted on the run around Newbury Road.  

    Sharon Wootten was driving in the area when she saw the sow: "I stopped the car and took a photo, and then I spoke to Pog's owner.

    "She [Pog] was very happy, she wasn't going home any time soon. But she was under control, the owner was very very good."

    BBC Radio Suffolk will be live at Bury St Edmunds Rugby Club's, external opening fixture of the new National League Two season tomorrow.

    The Wolfpack entertain Clifton at the Haberden, at the beginning of a month during which the Suffolk side will look to stamp their authority on the division. 

    "It's going to be tough given that we have away trips to Bishops Stortford and Taunton. We also play Worthing who have a new coaching team and lots of ambition," said Bury Director Gavin Hogg. 

    "September will give us an immediate marker with regards to our performance and areas we need to improve in."

    Bury St Edmunds Rugby Club, external get their latest National League Two campaign under way this weekend with a home match against Clifton.

    Director of Rugby Gavin Hogg (pictured) is likely to field a number of new signings before a big crowd at the Haberden tomorrow. 

    It only took Bury two attempts to get out of National League Three, so what's a realistic aim this time around? 

    "We make no bones about it that we want to improve on our seventh place finish last season and break into the top four," Hogg told us.

    It will not come as a surprise if Leiston, external are one of the Suffolk teams to benefit from an increased attendance during a non league weekend.

    The Victory Road side play Grays Athletic in the first round of FA Cup qualifying tomorrow off the back of seven consecutive wins in all competitions since the beginning of the season. 

    Manager Glenn Driver took charge of the Blues for a second time back in May and Leiston are currently top the Ryman Premier Division. , external

    "Leicester won the Premier League with a good team spirit and that's what we've got," Driver said. "When we lose the ball we've got players who go hunting for it, and we are all in this together."

  6. Men due in court over football fan attackpublished at 10:16 British Summer Time 2 September 2016

    Thirteen men are due to appear at Southend Magistrates' Court today after being charged over an attack on a Cambridge United football fan in Southend in 2015. 

    Simon Dobbin, 44, from Mildenhall, in Suffolk, (pictured below) was left with life-changing injuries, and is still undergoing treatment. 

    The thirteen men are accused of various offences; the majority with affray.

  7. Suffolk sides in FA Cup action during non league weekendpublished at 10:15 British Summer Time 2 September 2016

    A handful of non league sides from the county are in FA Cup 1st round qualifying action tomorrow.

    Ryman Premier Division leaders Leiston will be favourites to progress at home to Grays Athletic, while AFC Sudbury will also be heavily fancied ahead of their clash with Halstead in west Suffolk. 

    There are home matches too for Lowestoft Town and Felixstowe and Walton United, they play Histon and Tilbury respectively. 

    Needham Market, meanwhile, are away at Uxbridge and will be determined to bounce back from the bank holiday's heavy loss to Leiston at Bloomfields.

    Just a few weeks ago midfielder Jonny Williams (pictured right) felt that his season might have been over before it even began following an unlucky spell with injuries.

    After appearing for Wales during Euro 2016, the Welsh international was back on the treatment table after the final game of Crystal Palace's pre-season following a late challenge.

    Now back at Ipswich Town for a fourth loan spell, Williams is targeting a return to first team action after the October international break. 

    "We were playing a non league team and I got hacked down after half an hour. I've seen the tackle again on a replay and it could have been a nasty one but I got out just in time" he said.

    He is back at Ipswich Town for a fourth loan spell, but this time around midfielder Jonny Williams will not be linking up with striker Daryl Murphy (pictured left).

    The Welsh international joined the club again on transfer deadline day, just a couple of days after the Irish international was sold to Newcastle United. 

    However, Williams has wished Murphy all the best at St James' Park and admits the Magpies made him an offer he couldn't refuse. 

    "From what I've seen of him, he deserves this move," Williams said. "He's been a top player for a few seasons now and I wasn't surprised when Newcastle came sniffing."

    Last night's appearance of Pog the pig in Newbury Road in Ipswich, may not be the first time the sow has hit the headlines.

    Back on 2014, a picture of a house on sale in Ipswich was removed by estate agents, when it emerged it showed a large pig at rest in the living room.

    Crouch (pictured) arrived in Brazil yesterday. He won double gold at last year's Cerebral Palsy Games and is four-time British record holder. 

    Newson won Paralympic bronze at London 2012, and is already settled at Team GB's holding camp in Belo Horizonte.
