  2. 'If you have come for justice, then you have missed it' says Lauri Love in courtroompublished at 14:44 British Summer Time 16 September 2016

    Lauri Love has 14 days to appeal against the decision made at Westminster Magistrates' Court to extradite him to the United States to stand trial on charges of hacking into US government computers.

    The 31-year-old embraced friends and family, who appeared shocked and angry by the decision. 

    "If you have come for justice then you have missed it," Mr Love told a crowd of press in the courtroom afterwards.

    Ahead of the hearing, Mr Love said he held little hope of justice if he was extradited, and suggested a jail term in the US could cause his health to deteriorate and would lead to a mental breakdown or suicide.

    He and his family want him to face justice in the UK rather than the US, which he said "coerces" people into pleading guilty to get reduced sentences.

    The man accused of killing Weybread couple Peter and Sylvia Stuart has appeared at Ipswich Crown Court where further legal arguments about the case were heard.

    Ali Qazimaj, who denies the charges, has been further remanded in custody until his next hearing.

    Lauri Love, 31, from Stradishall, who is accused of hacking into US government computers, can be extradited to the US from Britain to stand trial.

    The ruling was made at Westminster Magistrates' Court, by district judge Nina Tempia.

    Last month Mr Love, who has Asperger's syndrome, external, said he feared dying in jail if he was extradited.

    He said the US prison system was "poor" at handling people with psychological conditions, who faced widespread bullying.

    "The way that mental health is dealt with in America is not in any way therapeutic," he said. "I have Asperger's and I have depression, so suicide is a real risk.

    "And if I get a 99-year sentence, it's an absurd length of time, meaning I would die in prison anyway."

    Ahead of tomorrow's match with Aston Villa, Ipswich Town manager Mick McCarthy has confirmed that he will be without defender Tommy Smith until Christmas.

    The New Zealand international, who missed Tuesday night's 1-0 win at Derby County, requires an operation on his back.

    "He's got a problem with a disc and it will have to get sorted out," McCarthy confirmed.

    "He will get it done and we'll have the best people doing it, but it he'll need around 12 weeks out."

    The case revolves round a fatal accident on the Gipsy Lane crossing, external in Needham Market on 24 August, 2011.

    The family of Olive McFarland, 82, who died when she was hit by a train, are in court.

    The judge has asked the family if they can come back on Tuesday, if the hearing is not concluded.

    The Home Builders Federation, external says developers "make the best" of the land they have got "so if we don't release enough land for housing through the planning system... then people will be able to cherry-pick the types of houses that they build.

    There's been a call from the director of Durrants estate agents, external in the Waveney valley, for developers to build more bungalows in the county.

    As construction of the homes has slowed, while demand increases, Aidan Branch, from the estate agents' Waveney area, says this part of the world is "attractive to people who want to move to a bungalow".

    "If the planners want to continue that encouragement, then when they get the applications from developers to build, they should stipulate that a certain percentage should be bungalows," he said.

    Greater Anglia have updated their information, external about the problems caused by lightning damage at Brandon:

    "Customers are advised to travel on Great Northern train services between Cambridge and Ely where you are advised to change for a rail replacement bus service between Ely and Thetford and a train shuttle service between Thetford and Norwich in both directions.

    "Customers at Norwich may travel on Abellio Greater Anglia services to Ipswich and change at Ipswich for Ely."

    Despite a successful summer, the Eros coffee shop, the last remaining business, will leave the building in November.

    Manager Belle Cram says: "There's only us in here now. Tourist Information went in April, Mayhem closed, Saltgrass closed at Christmas, the chip shop was only there for a short time and that closed last bank holiday. 

    "Once this has gone, we're going in November, this could be empty for years."

    It's been very unsettled across the East, resulting in thunderstorms, heavy rain and lightning strikes.

    There have been several incidents affecting rail services across Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire as a result of lightning and there are major delays on services via Watford following a landslip.

    Here's the extent of the heavy rainfall at 10:00.

    The thundery conditions are expected to persist today.

    This morning - heavy showers, possibly thundery, are expected to clear eastwards during the afternoon with sunny spells developing. Temperatures will reach 15C (59F).

    Tonight, it's expected to be cloudy with rain persisting, but gradually easing through the night. It will also be rather breezy and will feel less humid than recently. Overnight temperatures will fall to 13C (55F).
