    Following Saturday's defeat to Craig Cunningham, it's been confirmed that Lowestoft boxer Anthony Ogogo will not fight again this year.

    Prior to the weekend, the 27-year-old had hinted at a possible homecoming bout in December, but he is now facing another lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering a double fracture of an eye socket.

    Since turning professional in January 2013, Ogogo has been plagued by injuries to his shoulder and achilles, and has fought on just 12 occasions.

    In a statement, Ogogo's promoters Team Sauerland, said the Olympic medalist was injured before he went into the ring on Saturday,, external and hopes to earn a rematch with Cunningham next year.

    His career in the professional boxing ranks has been plagued by injury, and now Lowestoft boxer Anthony Ogogo is facing another lengthy spell out of the ring.

    The 27-year-old, who lost his International Middleweight title fight to Craig Cunningham, external in Birmingham on Saturday has fractured his eye socket in two places.

    Ogogo's promoters, Team Sauerland, say the Olympic medalist was injured before he went into the ring, external and will now focus on recovery before launching a comeback in 2017.

    A statement from Ogogo reads: "This is obviously an incredibly tough time for me. I now face an uncertain time in terms of my eyesight with another mountain to climb. 

    "However, I am ready for the challenge and will be giving everything I have to get back in the ring and to achieve my full potential.”

    It has been confirmed Lowestoft boxer Anthony Ogogo (left) was retired by his corner during Saturday's defeat because he was suffering from blurred double vision as a result of a broken eye socket.

    Ogogo, 27, suffered his first loss as a professional to home favourite Craig Cunningham (right) at the Barclaycard Arena.

    In a statement, Team Sauerland, external said the Ogogo was injured prior to fighting for the vacant WBC International Middleweight title.

    It said: "A leading eye specialist has now confirmed he believes that due to the nature of the scan results the injury was caused, yet not known at the time, before the fight and as such resulted in Ogogo having visibility issues severe enough to be retired.

    Promoter Kalle Sauerland added: “It was clear from the first round that Ant had difficulties finding his range and timing and that something was off."

  8. Corrie Mckeague: Search continues for missing airmanpublished at 18:01 British Summer Time 24 October 2016

    It's now been a month since Corrie Mckeague went missing after a night out in Bury St Edmunds.

    On Friday, CCTV footage was released showing the airman in Brentgovel Street in the town, at 03:25 BST.

    Suffolk Police now says it is investigating a possible sighting on him heading towards Honington.

    Officers say they received a call from a man who told them he had been driving in the area around 04:20 when he saw a man dressed in light clothing walking near the Hollow Road industrial estate, at the back of the sugar beet factory.

    The force said it was "working to see if this can be confirmed as Corrie".

    Police are investigating a reported sighting of missing airman Corrie Mckeague, who went missing after a night out in Bury St Edmunds on 24 September.

    The force says there was a possible sighting of him heading towards Honington at about 04:20 - almost an hour after he was seen on CCTV.

  10. Police warning after theft of rifle and bird-scaring bangerspublished at 17:30 British Summer Time 24 October 2016

    Police have issued a warning after the theft of an air rifle, two boxes of agricultural bird-scaring bangers, and a box of 10 large agricultural rockets from a container on farm land near Bromeswell.

    They say the bangers are usually on a rope fuse, and spaced out to go off every 20 minutes, but should any person hold them and light them, the fuse may go wrong and could cause serious injury to the person.

    The incident occurred between 16:00 last Tuesday and 07:15 on Wednesday on land off Sutton Road.

  11. Elderly man injured after crashing car into telegraph polepublished at 17:30 British Summer Time 24 October 2016

    We brought you news earlier of delays on Woodhall Road in Sudbury, because of a collision.

    The ambulance service, external have told us that an elderly man has been taken to hospital after his car crashed into a telegraph pole there.

    They received the emergency 999 call at 13:18 and within four minutes the first clinician was on scene to treat the man, believed to be in his 70s, for complaints of neck pains and a head injury. 

    After receiving treatment at the scene the man, who was described as being in a stable condition, was taken to West Suffolk Hospital for further care.

  12. First permanent 'Puzzle Room' to openpublished at 17:22 British Summer Time 24 October 2016

    The county's first permanent "Puzzle Room, external" opens at an old farm building at the weekend, by the Suffolk Food Hall in Wherstead near Ipswich.

    Participants are accused of poaching rabbits on the estate, and are imprisoned by a ruthless gamekeeper while the authorities are summoned from Ipswich, giving them an hour to make good their escape.

    It's being run by Steve Blake, who says it's a real "hands-on" experience: "This is a much more cottage-scale version of the Crystal Maze, external, but it's more cerebral.

    "There's no climbing walls, or clambering through tunnels. This is a genuine set of old farm buildings.

    "We've got some genuine authentic props from yesteryear, we've got genuine cobwebs and a genuine spider."

    Some patchy mist is likely under clearer skies, where temperatures will fall to around 6C (43F).

    There's good news for one of the county's young sports stars, as 19-year-old Matt Healey, who's a student at Suffolk New College, external, receives a call-up to the England dodgeball team, external.

    Matt, who's from Ipswich and plays for the Ipswich Igloos, external, will join the squad after catching the attention of coaches during trials in Leicester.

    While it's unlikely Healey will feature in the first-team just yet, he says it's a huge moment: "It's a massive achievement - definitely my biggest so far."

    The 22-year-old, who came on for the last seven minutes of Saturday's 3-0 defeat at Newcastle, has recently recovered from an ankle injury. 

    If all goes to plan there's every chance he'll then start this weekend's game against Rotherham United.

    The likes of Luke Varney, Paul Digby and Andre Dozzell are also likely to feature.

    The draw for the second round proper of the FA Vase has taken place, with Suffolk's two remaining sides given away ties. 

    Ipswich Wanderers, external will travel to Essex Senior League side FC Romania, external, a club which was formed in east London in 2006 and plays its home matches at Cheshunt in Hertfordshire. 

    Felixstowe and Walton, external will want to carry on their impressive cup form this season as they head to Basildon United. 

    Both matches will be played on Saturday, 12 November.
