    More information has emerged about a police pursuit that led to a car overturning on the A12, injuries to two police officers and an arrest related to two serious stabbings in Ipswich on Sunday, 18 December. 

    BBC Online addressed the key questions below to Essex Police who had pursued a car believed to have been driven by a suspect who was later arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

    Nine people have now been arrested in connection with the stabbings.

    Eight replacement bells have arrived for installation in the tower of a village church near Bury St Edmunds.

    The bells, some bearing the names of donors, were commissioned for St Leonard's , externalchurch at Horringer after funding by the National Lottery, fundraising by the 400 villagers and money from charities and trusts as well as other donations. 

    Work will start on the £140,000 project immediately.

    Part of Ipswich town centre near the library has been closed off after a lorry hit a listed building and became wedged on the corner of Northgate Street and Old Foundry Road. 

    Council staff are assessing the damage to buildings and whether they need to be supported.

    Needham Market lost their chance to regain the top spot in the Ryman Premier Division, external after losing 5-1 at Leiston yesterday.

    Gareth Heath's goal and a brace from Byron Lawrence made it 3-0 at half time before Patrick Brothers and Niko Muir each scored shortly after the restart. 

    Although Luke Ingram got one back for the Marketmen, it was Leiston boss Glenn Driver who was all smiles at full time. 

    "You know, 5-1, I believe could have been an awful lot more," he said.

    "Our defeat to Lowestoft I was really disappointed with and I was disappointed with our point here on Saturday because I felt against Enfield it was another two points that got away.  But I kind of felt a little bit nervous, which is the first time it's happened this season but yeah I'm over the moon.. 5-1 I'm absolutely buzzing with that."

    Bognor Regis are one point clear of second-placed Needham who have 49, with Leiston in fifth place on 42 points.

    Elsewhere, Jake Reed scored a last minute equaliser for Lowestoft Town away at AFC Sudbury.  The match finished 1-1 after Dylan Williams had earlier given the Yellows the lead.

    Ipswich Town's on-loan goalscorer Tom Lawrence says the team is "massively disappointed" after a late strike cost them in the 2-1 defeat at Queens Park Rangers yesterday.

    Lawrence, on loan from Leicester and pictured in the Bristol City game, levelled the scores just after half time, but Pawel Wzsolek got the winner in the 83rd minute.

    "I thought we dominated the game and we come out with a loss at the end of it so massively disappointed," he said.

    "We're so inconsistent at the minute, so we need to learn from this and go again.”

  10. Police renew appeal for information about Foundation Street stabbingspublished at 13:11 Greenwich Mean Time 3 January 2017

    Police still want to hear from anyone who was in the vicinity of Blackfriars Court, Foundation Street, Lower Orwell Street or Rosemary Lane in Ipswich shortly before 22:00 on Sunday, 18 December when the ambulance service was called to treat two men with serious stab injuries. 

    A man arrested after a crash on the A12 last night is the ninth person held over the incident.

    The others are:

    • Two men from Ipswich, aged 48 and 57, arrested shortly after the incident and bailed to return to police on 27 February. 
    •  A 24-year-old man from Ipswich was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder late on Monday 19 December and has been bailed until 2 March 2017
    • On Tuesday, 20 December, a 33-year-old man and a 41-year woman, both from Ipswich, were detained. The 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder while the 41-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. They have been bailed until 27 February
    • Two men from Luton, both aged 20, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and conspiracy to supply controlled drugs on Thursday, 22 December. They were brought to Suffolk for questioning and have been released on bail until 6 March
    • A 26-year-old man from Ipswich was arrested on Wednesday, 28 December, on suspicion of attempted murder and conspiracy to supply controlled drugs. He has now been bailed until 28 February while further inquiries are carried out

    A ninth person has been arrested over a stabbing attack in Ipswich on Sunday, 18 December when two men were found with serious injuries in Foundation Street.

    Essex Police arrested a 30-year-old man from Ealing on suspicion of assisting an offender after a grey Audi A5 failed to stop for officers on the northbound A12 last night.

    The car overturned on the road after police were following it, two police officers suffered minor injuries and a police vehicle was damaged.

    Suffolk Police were contacted by the ambulance service at 22:00 on 18 December, following reports of two seriously injured men on Foundation Street. 

    The men were taken to hospital in a critical condition. Both are now recovering. 

    Eight other people, from Ipswich and Luton, are on police bail pending further inquiries.

    A 38-tonne articulated delivery lorry has got stuck on a narrow road in Ipswich town centre.

    Traffic has been diverted away from the junction of Northgate Street and Old Foundry Road, near the library and PJ McGinty's pub, as the tractor unit and trailer became jammed against a wall. 

    Vehicles have been advised to stay clear of the area.

  14. 'Good performance, bad result' - McCarthypublished at 11:20 Greenwich Mean Time 3 January 2017

    Ipswich Town boss Mick McCarthy said "two bad goals" had left him disappointed after what he viewed as a good performance at Loftus Road yesterday.

    Town lost 2-1 to a late goal at Queens Park Rangers, which leaves them nine points of the play-off places in 15th place in the Championship.

    McCarthy said he was disappointed his team could not build on Friday's win over Bristol City.

    "Two good performances, but a really good performance, good result, a good performance and a bad result unfortunately," he said.

    "We conceded two bad goals - that's what went wrong.  

    "We've played really well, created loads of chances. Second half was a terrific performance and it should have ended one-all."

  16. Holding phone while driving risks prosecution and even prison, police saypublished at 10:37 Greenwich Mean Time 3 January 2017

    Hundreds of people have already signed up this morning to BBC Suffolk's "Hands Off" campaign aimed at getting every driver in the county to leave their hand-held phone alone at the wheel.

    The campaign comes as new research from the RAC shows attitudes to using a phone while behind the wheel are relaxing. 

    Sgt Julian Ditcham, from Suffolk's roads policing team, has been looking at the consequences of using the phone at the wheel. 

    "The other side of the coin [is] dealing with those people who have lost their licence as a result of holding their mobile phone while driving," he said.

    "They have been prosecuted and some have even gone to prison."

    Villagers in Suffolk are starting work on a £140,000 project to replace eight bells at their local church.

    St Leonard's church in Horringer, external, near Bury St Edmunds, dates back to the 14th Century and is a Grade 2 listed building. 

    Half of the money for the project came via National Lottery funding and the rest by local people in a village community of about 400 through fundraising events, donations and contributions from charities and trusts.

    Police are still looking for a teenager who went missing from home in Ipswich on 29 December.

    Megan Haggar was last seen at her home in Surrey Road at around 23:30 on Thursday and has not been seen since then.

    She is 14 years old and described as white, 5ft 3ins tall with long straight brown hair. 

    Police said they were concerned for her welfare and are asking anyone who has seen her or who has any information on where she might be to contact them.

    There have been a number of rail delays on the main line from Norwich to London this morning...

    It's the first day since Christmas Eve when trains were due to run normally after bus replacement services were used to provide cover while engineering works were taking place.

    Greater Anglia, external says over-running engineering works at Shenfield were to blame for some delays and cancellations into Liverpool Street, but services are now returning to normal. 

    C2C is accepting Greater Anglia tickets between Southend and Fenchurch Street. 

    A passenger taken ill on the 06:50 train at Stratford resulted in some lines being blocked and the train operator is saying passengers should expect disruption mid-morning.
