    BBC Suffolk has joined with the RAC to urge motorists in the county to make it their New Year's resolution to stop using a hand-held mobile phone while driving.

    RAC national research, external shows the offence has reached epidemic proportions and attitudes to using a hand-held phone when driving have relaxed significantly over the past couple of years. 

    The number of motorists admitting to using their handheld mobile phone to make a call when driving has increased from 8% in 2014 to 31% today.

    Happy New Year and welcome to Tuesday's look at news, sport, travel and weather stories from across the county. 

    For many it is the first day back to work after the Christmas and New Year break - and it's a frosty start with a "yellow warning" from the Met Office, external over icy roads and pavements.

    Today we will join BBC Suffolk's Hands Off campaign which has been launched to get every single driver in the county to leave their phone alone at the wheel.

    The campaign asks you to pledge this New Year to not touch your phone when driving.

    Also a six-week public consultation on the future charges for beach huts in Felixstowe is launched today.
