    Emyr Huws admits the chance to link up with fellow Welshmen Jonny Williams and Tom Lawrence played a part in his move to Ipswich Town, external.

    The trio, who've played international football together since their teenage years, were reunited when Huws joined the Blues on loan from Cardiff last week. 

    "Me and Jonny go back to Under-15s, and Tom Under-17s," said Huws. "We've known each other for a long time and know each others' games.

    "They're both top class footballers, with a lot of quality. Tom at the minute is flying and there's no limits for him, or Jonny. Fair play to Tom, he's on fire."

    Cole Skuse appears to have beaten the odds and could be back in the Ipswich Town first team at Aston Villa on Saturday.

    The midfielder was brought off during the first half of last weekend's 2-2 draw with Reading with an Achilles injury. 

    "He's been having treatment and nursing it all week," said Town boss Mick McCarthy. "He'll be training with us tomorrow though.

    "We've our fingers crossed that he doesn't have any negative reaction from it and that he'll be fine for Saturday."

    Suffolk Police says it's investigating the possibility of a link between the ram-raid at Jimmy's Farm and two raids which took place yesterday.

    Officers were called to the Lady Lane garage at Hadleigh and to a service station at Woolpit yesterday morning, after incidents at both.

  7. Man arrested after early-hours police pursuitpublished at 12:51 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2017

    A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after a police pursuit which saw three people taken to hospital in the early hours.

    The incident happened after a collision on Bridge Street in Ipswich this morning.

    At about 02:45, officers were involved in a short pursuit with a silver Peugeot, which subsequently hit a tree.

    Of the three people taken to hospital, none sustained serious injuries. Two have now left hospital.

    The third, who was arrested, is being kept in for observation.

    Fire crews from Norfolk and Suffolk were called to a blaze in a property in south Norfolk earlier this morning. 

    These pictures of the blaze, which broke out at about 07:00, were taken by Brian Smith. 

    Incident commander Derek Simm says they had to strip the roof tiles off to access the loft and check the fire hadn't spread to adjoining properties. 

    One man was taken from inside the building to hospital for a check-up. An investigation into the cause of the blaze is under way.

  9. Homes get go-ahead for Ipswich Garden Suburbpublished at 12:01 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2017

    The first stage of a huge housing development in Ipswich has been approved by councillors.

    The plans are for 1,100 new homes to be built in the 'Ipswich Garden Suburb', on land east of Henley Road, and north of the rail line leading to Westerfield.

    Concerns have been raised about the impact the development would have on the area, but borough councillor Carole Jones, who is in charge of housing, says these have been addressed.

    "We've worked with a lot of interested parties including Westerfield Parish Council and it's very important to them and to us that we maintain a gap between them," she said.

    "They are a village, and we are the Ipswich boundary. That is going to be kept and the country park will be between us."

  10. Cordons in place as murder inquiry continuespublished at 11:07 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2017

    Paramedics were called to Ancaster Road at 18:30 last night to reports a man had suffered stab wounds. 

    The victim, in his 40s, was taken to Ipswich Hospital but died a short while later. 

    Ancaster Road remains closed between the junction with Ranelagh Road and Gippeswyck Avenue this morning.

    Much of the road was cordoned off this morning and police cars remained at the scene as officers carried out their inquiries.

  11. Man questioned over stabbing in Ipswichpublished at 11:00 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2017

    Earlier we reported that a man had been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man who had been stabbed died.

    A 39-year-old man is being questioned in connection with the incident.

    Police are on the scene of the stabbing, which happened yesterday evening on Ancaster Road, near the railway station.

  12. Minibus on fire at car workshoppublished at 10:43 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2017

    Firefighters are on the scene of a car dealership in the north of the county.

    Four crews were called to Ness Point in Lowestoft, just after 09:30.

    We've been told a minibus has caught fire in the workshop.

    On the wooden floor are items of clothing damaged in the ram-raid.

    Then as you look beyond that you can see a lot of the shelves and the hangers are completely bare, as we understand that over 100 Barbour and Schoffel jackets were taken in the raid.

    If you haven't been to Jimmy's Farm, it's got a small range of independently-run stores on site, one of which was attacked last night. 

    This morning, on the lawn in front of the shop itself there's a pink checked shirt, just lying there with its coat hanger still in place.

    As I walk down the pavement past a couple of fence posts which have been discarded and chucked onto the pathway, you can see the damage that's actually been caused to the front of the shop.

    And you can see the skid marks of the car where it's obviously gone into the building itself, it's taken away at least three-quarters of the brick work. The brick work has been pushed inside the shop, the window has buckled and is leaning into the shop itself.

    This is a close-up of the scene at Jimmy's Farm at Wherstead this morning.

    It was the third ram-raid in the county in 24 hours, and this photo shows how the intruders managed to get in.

    A car was driven through a fence and into the Clarkes of Walsham store on the site, making a huge hole in the wall. 

    It is thought a large number of goods were stolen.

    Suffolk Police is investigating a third ram-raid in 24 hours - this time at Jimmy's Farm in Wherstead.

    A car was driven through a fence and into the wall of the Clarkes of Walsham store just after 23:00. It's one of several retail units at Jimmy Doherty's farm.

    The wall caved in and it's thought a large amount of goods were stolen.

    CCTV at the shop will be looked at this morning.

    The hit comes after two ram-raids at service stations in Hadleigh and Woolpit early yesterday morning.

    A 39-year-old man from Ipswich is being questioned by police after he was arrested on suspicion of murder.

    A man in his 40s was taken to Ipswich Hospital last night after being stabbed, but died a short while later.

    Police had been called to Ancaster Road at 18:30 to reports of a stabbing.

    Ancaster Road remains closed to through traffic between the junctions with Ranelagh Road and Gippeswyk Avenue.

    Three people are in hospital after a police pursuit in Ipswich in the early hours of this morning. 

    A patrol car stopped behind a silver Peugeot at traffic lights on Ranelegh Road, and officers say they tried to alert the people inside the car that they didn't have lights on.

    The vehicle drove off at speed and crashed into a tree on Bridge Street, less than a mile away. The police watchdog is being informed of what happened.

  20. Murder inquiry after stabbing in Ipswichpublished at 08:14 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2017

    A murder investigation has been launched after a man was stabbed in Ipswich last night.

    Emergency services were called to Ancaster Road at 18:30, to reports that a man had suffered stab wounds.

    The victim was taken to Ipswich Hospital for treatment, but died a short while later.

    Ancaster Road remains closed between the junction with Ranelagh Road and Gippeswyck Avenue this morning.

    Det Ch Supt Simon Parkes said police were looking for two men seen running away from the scene, towards Gippeswyk Avenue, shortly after the stabbing occurred.
