    I went over to Trimley St Mary earlier to speak to Brian Aldous, whose house was damaged late last night after a car crashed into it.

  2. Newmarket Nights to welcome The Jacksonspublished at 13:03 Greenwich Mean Time 20 March 2017

    The Jacksons - originally formed as The Jacksons 5 - are the latest act to be announced as joining the Newmarket Nights, external season.

    The band, who are celebrating their 50th anniversary, will appear on 30 June, with tickets going on sale on Friday.

    Tito Jackson said: "We had the privilege of performing for Her Majesty the Queen when we first came to the UK in 1972 and we're always excited to return.

    "The British audiences love their music and we can't wait to share ours with them when we bring our show to Newmarket Racecourse this summer."

    Other original members include Jermaine, Jackie and Marlon.

    Town striker David McGoldrick has been ruled out, external of the Republic of Ireland squad for their World Cup qualifier with Wales and their friendly against Iceland during the international break due to a knee injury.

    We reported on Friday that tickets for Ricky Gervais at Ipswich Regent had sold out within about an hour.

    A second date on 5 September was added straight away, but over the weekend that sold out as well.

    For unlucky comedy fans, it's going to be a case of checking with the venue, external for returns or finding out just how inflated ticket prices are on re-sale websites.

    Rock band Thunder's show at The Regent this coming Sunday has also sold out.

    AFC Sudbury, external have slipped to second bottom of the Ryman Premier Division, external after a sixth defeat in seven games.

    Jamie Godbold's side had Ryan Henshaw (pictured) sent off as they lost 3-1 at home to Harrow Borough on Saturday.

    Needham Market's, external fading title hopes were dealt another blow as they lost 2-1 at Hendon while Leiston, external bounced back from their Suffolk Premier Cup disappointment by beating Harlow Town 2-1.

    Lowestoft Town, external extended their winning run to six matches by seeing off Worthing 1-0 but Bury Town, external went down 1-0 at Brightlingsea Regent in the North Division.

    Police are searching for the driver of a car which crashed into a house in Trimley St Mary late on Sunday night, after being stolen earlier in the day.

    Brian Aldous, who lives with his wife on High Road in the village near Felixstowe, said: "I was upstairs on the computer, I wasn't where I normally would be, sitting in front of the television.

    "This is the third time that something's happened here exactly in the same place." 

    Mr Aldous said they don't know anything about the female driver - "where she is or who she is".

    He added that he and his wife, neither of whom were injured in the incident, have received support from the local community, and says everyone's taking photographs of the scene: "They think it's a bit of a novelty - I don't."

    A crash on the A12 southbound between the junctions with the A120 at Colchester and the A130 north of Chelmsford is causing delays of one-and-a-half hours, the Highways Agency , external said.

    There are long tailbacks and the road is not expected to be cleared until about 11:45. 

    A lorry driver had to be cut free from his cab by emergency services and several other vehicles were involved in the crash. 

    Other vehicles caught in the jams are reported to have broken down adding to the problems.

    The pair are due to join up with the Wales and Republic of Ireland squads respectively this week.

    "Tom [pictured in white] is going for a scan on a groin problem," manager Mick McCarthy confirmed. 

    "McGoldrick, who's been bothered with his knee - well that's nipping him at the back of his knee."

    As some fans continue to call for Ipswich Town, external boss Mick McCarthy to leave Portman Road he's told me he's going nowhere.

    The Blues are just five points above the Championship relegation zone, and on a run of one win in 13 matches, after Saturday's defeat at Cardiff City .

    Afterwards I asked McCarthy whether he's still the man to turn things around: "You wouldn't expect me to say anything else but yes, would you?

    "I think we should make sure that I'm still the man to make sure we stay in this league, and the players make sure that we're still in this league, and then they can pick the bones out of it after that."

    Ipswich Town are fighting for their Championship survival after Saturday's 3-1 defeat at Cardiff City left them just five points above the bottom three.

    "Yes it is a relegation battle," said boss Mick McCarthy. "It's a huge concern, none of us wants to be in a relegation battle, certainly none of us wants to get relegated. I've never said we aren't [in one].

    "We're not clear of it, I've always been looking over my shoulder, looking backwards and not above, and quite clearly that's been stressed to all of us with the results, the way they've gone, and the games we've got coming up."

    The vehicle went through a brick wall, across the front garden and straight into the front room of the house on High Road at just after 23:00. 

    Substantial damage has been caused to the car and the home, but no-one was injured.
