    Ipswich Town, external fans were treated to a rare goal from Cole Skuse on Saturday - his first since April 2015 and only his second in 176 appearances for the club.

    Since arriving at Portman Road in 2013 the 31-year-old's rarely been a threat to opposition goalkeepers, playing a withdrawn role in midfield.

    His 48th minute strike set the Blues on their way to a 2-0 victory over Bolton.

    "He should get more goals but I'm not going to give him stick for that, I'll take what he gives me every single week," boss Mick McCarthy told BBC Suffolk.

    He added: "That tackle he made in the first half kept it at nil-nil and I thought his all round performance today was terrific."

    Following on from their success at Broadstreet seven days earlier, the Wolfpack fought back to beat Old Redcliffians 28-20 at the Haberden.

    The win moves Bury up to 10th in the table, two places below next weekend's opponents Barnstaple.

    The father of a Thurston rugby club, external player, who died suddenly while playing on Saturday, has paid an emotional tribute to members of both teams who tried to save his son.

    Josh Gilbert, 25, (pictured back row, fourth from left), collapsed and died on the pitch during a match at Hadleigh Rugby Club.

    His father Howard said he was moved by the actions of the Hadleigh players: "It's a wonderful friendly club down there, and for this to happen on their patch is awful for them.

    "Both sides gave him so much assistance on the pitch and not one man went home until some time afterwards.

    "We're talking perhaps an hour-and-a-half after Josh first collapsed.

    "[When] it was time to leave the ground in the ambulance, they formed a guard of honour for him and clapped him away."

    The head of the scrap-metal recycling centre, which was the scene of a massive fire on Friday night, says damage to the yard is minimal - partly down to how his staff and firefighters worked together to dismantle the material which was alight.

    Adrian Dodds, joint managing director of Sackers in Great Blakenham, external, says they are open as normal with little more than scorch marks: "We had a few hosepipes on cranes, the collateral damage is very very little, a few scorch marks on the fence behind.

    "We're up and running, just waiting for the guys to start the machines up and start cracking on... so we can clear the site."

    Ipswich Town, external boss Mick McCarthy was as honest as ever in assessing Saturday's 2-0 win over struggling Bolton at Portman Road.

    Second half strikes from Cole Skuse and David McGoldrick helped the Blues end a run of three successive defeats in all competitions.

    The victory lifts Town back up to fifth in the Championship table, with a game in hand over the teams above them.

    "Great result, ordinary performance," McCarthy told me at fulltime. "We haven't played well, but at the end of it we've scored two good goals and kept it out of our net.

    "I don't think, by any stretch of the imagination, that we are one of the best teams in the league but people are finding it hard to play against us and we're managing to win games and that's fundamentally what it's all about."
