    This map, complied by BBC weatherman Dan Holley, goes some way to explaining the impact on travel and school closures in some parts of the county today.

    As you can see, the "unofficial" chart shows there was about 10cm snow in the west of Essex, with up to 14cm in parts of Hertfordshire and 15cm in Bedfordshire, but Norfolk and parts of Suffolk got off very lightly.

    Ipswich Town, external boss Mick McCarthy felt his side shot themselves in the foot twice on Saturday as they went down 2-0 at MIddlesbrough.

    For all the Blues have been a real threat going forward this season, they've also conceded a number of sloppy goals.

    This time it was Boro forwards Martin Braithwaite and Patrick Bamford who benefited either side of half-time.

    "We've made mistakes again that have cost us," McCarthy told me. "We were playing well up until the first goal and I'm not sure Bart (Bialkowski, goalkeeper) has made many saves up until that.

    "I thought we had a couple of decent chances, catching them on the break, and you know full well if you score one the atmosphere changes and we'd play far better. It wasn't to be and it was our own undoing."
