    • York-based charity The Joseph Rowntree Foundation, external says more than one million people across Yorkshire are living in poverty
    •  A fundraising campaign is under way to help a three-year-old from Ripon who has cerebral palsy to walk on her own
    • Harrogate Town, external are through to the first round of the FA Trophy after beating Salford City in their third qualifying round replay

    Good news for North Yorkshire - the fog has finally gone. 

    The day will start mainly cloudy and breezy

    There'll be some bright or sunny spells particularly in the east, meanwhile in the west there'll be some outbreaks of rain.

    It's going to be very mild with temperatures reaching 11C (52F).

    If you're heading out or on the move in North Yorkshire, there are no major problems to report.

    Watch out for slow moving traffic on the A171 at Lady Edith's Road in Scarborough.

    And a reminder that there are still temporary traffic lights on Seamer Road on the A64 near Barry's Lane. 

    On the rails, there's are currently no delays on the trains out of York station, external this morning, though the 07:08 service to Newcastle is - as ever, it seems - running a little late.

    That's it from me today, but updates from across North Yorkshire will continue throughout the afternoon and evening.  

    Meanwhile, here are five things we've learned about our county so far today: 

    1. North Yorkshire County Council agrees care home funding has reached a "tipping point" as councillors discuss how much they're going to pay care homes for their services
    2. Drax power station is to spend £340m to buy Opus Energy and four gas turbine development projects in a move they say will enable them to cut carbon emissions
    3. It's going to be a very happy Christmas for some North Yorkshire families after the NHS said it will now make a potentially life-saving drug available to their children
    4. Horton-in-Ribblesdale Primary School, one of North Yorkshire's smallest schools is facing closure - it's rated "outstanding" but has only 15 pupils
    5. It's been a season of misery for York City, but today they've received a much-needed boost with the news that striker Rhys Murphy may not be as badly injured as first thought

    It's a day in which the fog has struggled to lift in many parts of the county, so I'll leave you for now with this almost spooky picture of York Minster.

    North Yorkshire landowners are gathering in Westminster to talk about the future of rural businesses in the county.

    It comes as a new report by the Country Land and Business Association, external reveals how much is being spent on all kinds of businesses based in the countryside, such as farm shops, camp sites and music festivals.   

    It also looks at future rural opportunities such as green energy, improving broadband services and flood prevention.

    However, any dense patches of fog should lift a little into low cloud with a few limited brighter intervals developing.

    We've got some really positive news now on a story we first brought you back in October.

    The NHS has announced it has decided to fund a drug which could save the lives of children suffering from rare inoperable brain tumours. 

    It follows a campaign by a number of families in North Yorkshire. 

    The drug Everolimus gives hope to children with Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC). 

    One of those lobbying the government was Nick Dale, from Copmanthorpe in York, whose son, Sam, has TSC. He gave me his reaction to the news:

    More now on the concern over the funding of care homes here in North Yorkshire.

    Earlier we heard from our reporter Mike Kemp as he went for a look around a project which helps people to live in their own homes.

    Well today, the amount the county council pay care homes for their services will be discussed by councillors.

    They're proposing a increase in the amount of money they hand out by 5%.

    I've been speaking to Mike Padgham, he's the chair of the Independent Care Group, and says that isn't enough:
