  10. Five things we've learned about North Yorkshire so far todaypublished at 14:30 Greenwich Mean Time 15 December 2016

    Andrew Barton
    BBC Local Live, York

That's it from me today, but you can keep across updates from North Yorkshire through the rest of the afternoon and evening right here.

Meanwhile, here are five things we've learned today:

    • The idea of charging visitors to Harrogate an extra tax has been looked at by councillors as a way of raising cash to fund "night marshals" for the town
    • Yorkshire's Gary Ballance says he'll "lead by example" as he takes on the club's captaincy following Andrew Gale's recent appointment as coach
    • Scientists at the University of York have discovered the earliest humans from Europe didn't use fires for cooking, instead they survived on a diet of meat and plants eaten raw
    • In a look at what's important to different communities during the festive season, we discovered what a Ugandan Christmas in North Yorkshire is like
    • And Mary and Joseph found shelter at a tearoom in Kettlewell last night, when children re-enacted the birth of the baby Jesus

I'll finish with this from Mark Sullivan - I've been saving it all day. It's December's full moon, which is the final "supermoon" of 2016, above Hambleton last night.

A "supermoon" occurs when the moon is full and at its closest point to Earth. These closer moons can shine as much as 30% brighter than a regular full moon.
