  6. Ken Livingstone: 'Momentum are not Militant'published at 12:39

    BBC News Channel

    Ken Livingstone

Ken Livingstone says Jeremy Corbyn has made clear he won't reinstate automatic reselection of MPs. He says they are "not going back" to that.

He says his is a member of Momentum - the Jeremy Corbyn support campaign some Labour MPs have accused of stoking online abuse.

But the former London mayor says Momentum is a campaigning organisation not "some nasty bit of work like the old Militant".

Militant was the hard left faction accused of attempting to take over the Labour Party in the 1980s.

Mr Livingstone said Momentum's main priority was to ensure voters are on the new electoral register.

He said there's been "a lot of tension" in the Labour party but it will "calm down" now after the win in the by-election.

MPs live with threats all the time, claimed Mr Livingstone, citing an alleged assassination attempt he survived during a trip to Northern Ireland.

  8. More from Neil Coyle on pro-Corbyn lobbypublished at 12:22

    BBC News Channel

Labour MP Neil Coyle said the Labour leadership needed to "make sure that those who pretend they're acting for Jeremy are told to back off".

He said "Labour councillors, Labour members and Labour council leaders are Jeremy's representatives at local level. They are the voice of the Labour Party at local level".

The Bermondsey and Old Southwark MP said he did not have a problem with Mr Corbyn "at all" adding that the Labour leader was always courteous.

But he said Mr Corbyn needed to "tell those outside the party who act in his name that they do not represent him".

  9. Labour MP criticises Corbyn supporting anti-war lobbypublished at 12:18

    BBC News Channel

    Neil Coyle

Labour MP Neil Coyle, who has received alleged death threats on social media says Jeremy Corbyn "needs to do more" to deal with those outside the party who threaten or abuse members.

He says the Labour leadership has already sent a strong message to party members, but says "the leader needs to do more" to tackle "those who pretend they act in his name in particular in Momentum (a Jeremy Corbyn support group) and on the edges of Momentum who are trying to lobby the Labour Party into a position its not already in or they want to see it moved into."

He says he thinks it "was a mistake to open a consultation to try and force Labour MPs to adopt a different position on Syria".

Many emails weren't read as too many had been received, saying that wasn't a "genuine way of engaging members". He adds "it was a mistaken approach"

Momentum said it was "proud" to help 30,000 people send emails to Labour MPs urging them to vote against the bombing of so-called Islamic State in Syria.

  20. Labour MP given police security after 'death threat'published at 10:06

After receiving an alleged death threat in a Twitter message, Labour MP Neil Coyle has been given extra police security, according to The Times, external

After voting in favour for air strikes in Syria, Mr Coyle's name was on a list of 66 MPs which circulated online calling for their deselection.

The tweeted threat said "u voted for airstrikes in Syria, if I see you round ends" followed by knife emoticons.

Police officers will be protecting the MP during his weekly surgery today in his Bermondsey and Old Southwark consistency.

He told Sky News he wasn't convinced the threat was genuine adding he would prefer police officers to be out doing "real police work, rather than trying to defend me from someone who may or or may not turn up".
