Both major parties 'have failed' on Brexit - Huntpublished at 14:42 British Summer Time 3 May 2019
Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt says both major parties have suffered losses in the local elections because "both have failed" to deliver Brexit, despite promises at the last election.
And he says now is not the time and place to be changing the Tory party leader.
Speaking to BBC's HARDtalk presenter, Stephen Sackur, in Nairobi, he says: "Both have failed and be it on our heads if we have another general election and we have not delivered the Brexit that we promised the British people we would."
Mr Hunt says the "real judgement" on Theresa May and the government will be if they "deliver the Brexit that the British people voted for" and to go on and "unite the country afterwards".
And speaking of the leadership, he says: "There will be a time and place for all those discussions but right now changing our leader would not help get this difficult issue of Brexit over the line in a hung parliament, and that's what all of us need to be focusing on."
