The baton, created by Glasgow-based firm 4c Design, contains a sealed, secret message written by the Queen.

When it reaches the Games it will spent 40 days travelling around Scotland in the hands of 4,000 baton bearers before it is handed back to the Queen, or her representative, at the opening ceremony on 23 July. Only then will the message inside be revealed.
