    A kilted Alan Stewart has just set off with the baton, after posing for some pictures. He's getting a great reception from the crowd.

    Since undergoing a life-saving kidney transplant in 2009, Alan has been committed to raising awareness for organ donation. He has also competed at three British Transplant Games, winning a significant number of medals.

    We have received lots of messages of support for Selkirk baton bearer Jake Wheelans.

    Jake was nominated for his commitment to rugby in the Scottish Borders. He has been the driving force behind Selkirk Youth Rugby Club and has helped players progress from youth level to become Scottish and British Lions internationals.

    Alan Wheelans emailed to say: "Good luck to my dad Jake Wheelans when 'running' today at Selkirk RFC! Don't let Lee Jones or Craig Hunter show you up!"

    There were more messages of support for Jake on twitter, ‏Bordersafeguard tweeted: "Sun shinning on @SelkirkRFC for the @Batonrelay2014 Wishing our own batonbearer Jake Wheelans all the best today"

    Are you watching the live stream?

    The baton is about to make a grand entrance at Selkirk Rugby Football Club, Philiphaugh Stadium.

    The club say the have produced an impressive total of 12 Scotland internationalists, the best known being fly-half John Rutherford, who gained 42 caps for his country and represented the British Lions in New Zealand in 1983.

    According to our friends at Glasgow 2014, the Commonwealth Games Athletes' Village is 35 hectares in size, the equivalent of 54 football pitches.

    The pool at the Tollcross International Swimming Centre, venue for the swimming events, is 50 metres long. Funnily enough that's the equivalent of one Olympic-sized swimming pool.

    The Queen's Baton Relay is curtain raiser for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow next month. As the excitement starts to build in Scotland, here are some top facts about the Games.

    • The 2,000-seat dining hall in the Athletes' Village will serve around 390,000 meals with more than a 1,000 different menu items during the Games.

    • Women's boxing and the mixed team relay event in triathlon will make their Commonwealth Games debut in Glasgow.

    It will also visit Selkirk Rugby Club and go off track with some mountain bikers in Glentress.

    Thomas plays for local side St Boswell's Cricket Club and were he also coaches the junior team.

    Thanks to his commitment, the club have had two successful tours to his home country, St Lucia.

    Badminton player Sandra Watt was one of the baton bearers at Melrose Rugby Ground.

    The former Scotland internationalist won a bronze medal in the women's doubles at the 1998 Commonwealth Games and a team bronze in Manchester 2002.

    Sandra was also the police national singles champion.
