    Three-time British Cadet Judo champion Abbi Blackie ran with the baton in Melrose.

    Abbi represented Great Britain at the Youth Olympic Games last year, finishing seventh.

    The baton has arrived in Melrose and paused for a quick game at the rugby ground.

    The Borders town is known worldwide as the birthplace of Rugby Sevens.

    New Zealand have dominated Commonwealth Games Rugby Sevens, claiming four gold medals to date. During the international section on the relay we met the Barbados team who will face the defending champions in their Commonwealth debut next month in Glasgow.

    Ian Bromely emailed us to tell us about his son Jamie, a volunteer at Riding for the Disabled who took part in the relay in Duns this morning.

    Ian wrote: "He was nominated because of his participation at Berwickshire group Riding for the Disabled where he does equestrian vaulting.

    "He has been a RDA national champion with his team at Hartpury College, he has competed in Scottish equestrian vaulting competitions with able bodied vaulters and he is a winner of many rosettes."

    Teenage swimming coach Annabelle Ireland was one of the first people to run with the baton in Melrose. She was nominated for her dedication to swimming and has been coaching since she was 11 years old.

    The Queen's baton will hit the mountain bike trails at Glentress, external later this afternoon, and it is a double celebration for the site as it also announced plans for a centre for mountain bike excellence today.

    The Mountain Bike Centre of Scotland is expected to become a "world class national centre of excellence and innovation".
