    Anne Mackay recently carried the baton in Tain.

    Anne helped set up the Tain Runners club, and also plays a key role in organising the Tain Gala 10K and the Tain Hill Trail Race.

    Many local people are now keen half and full marathon runners and those who nominated her are adamant that "without her input, this simply wouldn't have been possible".

    The relay was so popular in Golspie spectators stood on each other's shoulders to get a glimpse of the baton, as this picture from Batonrelay2014, external shows.

    If you're watching the video stream you'll have noticed the relay has paused at a whisky distillery in Tain.

    We couldn't possibly speculate on the nature of this visit, but the camera is starting to get a bit wobbly.

    Fourteen-year-old Lucy always gives sport a go, and the keen Girl Guide has helped run the Rainbows group for the last two years. Those who nominated her "are certain carrying the Queen's Baton would be deserving of her efforts".

    A young girl holds the baton at the Emigrants Statue in Helmsdale.

    The statue marks the Highland clearances in the 19th Century, when thousands of Scots were forced out of their homes to make way for sheep.

    It also stands as a tribute to the contributions many made in their adopted homelands, such as Canada, the United States, Australia and New Zealand.

    The Emigrants was commissioned by Sutherland-born millionaire Dennis MacLeod, who made his fortune in Africa as an executive for mining company Anglo American Corporation.

    Twelve-year-old Olivia McGlennon will carry the baton this evening in Alness. Her proud dad James emailed to tell us about her achievements.

    He says: "Olivia has represented Scotland at numerous kickboxing competitions throughout the UK and in Greece and Sicily, and has garnered numerous Scottish titles, a WAKO GB title and two world titles over the last four years.

    "Olivia trains youngsters twice per week and she herself trains up to five evenings per week."

    Jamie, who ran with the baton earlier, is the current under-25 Highland Games champion in the heavy events category, which includes caber toss and Scottish hammer throw.

    Gemma Maclean and her good friend Emily Finlayson are carrying the baton in Alness later.

    Gemma is looking for some support, and has emailed to say: "Hope to see a big turn out on the streets of Alness to welcome the Baton!"

    Lizzie Sturrock will also be an Alness baton bearer.

    Husband Niall has been in touch via email. He says: "Looking forward to seeing my wife Lizzie carrying the baton in her home town of Alness this afternoon in front of her family and friends.

    "A glorious day in the Highlands to celebrate the Queen's Baton Relay."
