    Cameron has been volunteering in Wick for several years, he is the chair of the youth club and was part of a campaign to save the local park from closure.

    The people who nominated Cameron say he is a "kind and caring person who shines as a volunteer especially with children and young people".

    He gained a Saltire Award for 500 hours of volunteering, and is also a youth parliament representative for the Highlands.

    The sky cleared, and the sun shone as James MacKay became the first baton bearer in the town.

    Eileen Russell is carrying the Baton in Tain later this afternoon and emailed to say: "I want to thank Christine Eden for nominating me for my role in Guides, all my Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and fellow Guiders, my Scouting friends, my family and all who have supported me in my 42 years as a Guider."

    "Wow - I still can't believe it. It's something for my grandchildren Alysia and Connor to remember," she adds.

    We have received lots of messages of support for the baton bearers, including an email this morning from David Bird.

    David's girlfriend, Karen Kelly, will carry the baton in Kilbirnie, North Ayrshire, on Tuesday.

    He said: "I nominated her as not only did she have this dream, but also because she has done a huge amount of good works for charity - organising champagne tea and fashion shows and chips and opera nights for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

    "I am incredibly proud of her, as are her daughters Eleanor and Gwen, her sister Claire and of course her parents Tom and Marjorie and all her friends."
