    John Collins, from Bishopton, Renfrewshire, will carry the baton later. He was nominated for his 27 years of service as a volunteer at Lochgoilhead Activity Centre.

    His wife Patricia has been in touch via email asking the people of Dunoon to support him.

    She says: "He's hoping for a big cheer from the local crowd.

    "No one will know him because we live in a different authority. But as the baton isn't passing Lochgoilhead he's carrying it in Dunoon."

    Patricia also thinks John, at 6ft 7in (2m), might be today's tallest baton bearer.

    So please, if you're in Dunoon this evening and you see a big chap carrying a fancy stick, give him a cheer.

    Thomas Connor is excited at the prospect of carrying the baton in Dunoon later.

    He will receive the baton from Sam Lawrie and pass it to Kevin Smith.

    Nikki Storrar watched her sister Tara Pollock carry the baton in Oban on our live video stream.

    Alison MacVicar was Oban's final baton bearer.

    The police escort danced a little can-can at the side of the road as she finished her stint.

    They're a fickle bunch the escort. We were expecting them to do the "Grand Old Duke of York" or a Mexican wave, which is how they often close proceedings before getting back on the bus.

    The relay will now make the journey to Kilmartin, arriving around 11.15 BST.

    David Ferguson recently ran with the baton in Oban.

    David is head janitor at Oban High School, and in his spare time helps with the school's shinty team, particularly in supporting those with special needs. Those who nominated him say David is "a truly motivated individual who seeks to help others".

    Another of Benderloch's baton bearers was Daniel MacDonald.

    Despite suffering chronic pain as the result of a car crash, Daniel trained for - and completed - an 80 mile (128km) charity run from Glasgow to Taynuilt. The journey took three days and Daniel raised over £8,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support and Yorkhill Hospital.

    Joan Reynolds carried the baton in Benderloch earlier.

    Joan has been teaching children to swim for more than 10 years, and runs a lifesaving club in her spare time.

    Those who nominated her say Joan is a "brilliant teacher" and a "wonderful example of someone who has strived to improve the lives of people less fortunate than themselves".

    The baton has arrived in Oban. Kyle Dods is the town's first baton bearer.
