    Jean is the head coach of the Magnum Ice Dance and Figure Skating Club in Irvine.

    However she also has an illustrious past in the sport, she competed in a number of European Figure Skating Championships and was the British Champion on two occasions.

    The people who nominated Jean say, "Her legacy remains strong, mostly in the high number of pupils she has taught who have now become the current generation of skating coaches."

    The relay was well under way in Irvine when Eileen Morgan handed the baton to Carly Wilson.

    Caitlin Gibb (pictured, below) and Caitlin McGarry have already had the honour of running with the baton in the Ayrshire town.

    One of yesterday's baton bearers was Paul Dorrian. His baby nieces Grace, who is seven months old, and little Amelia - who is just six weeks old - were there to cheer him on.

    Brian Colquhoun tweets, external: "Ha! Someone in Kilwinning has a sign that says, "Don't drop it, butterfingers!" Is that sort of motivational sign usual? #bbcbatonrelay"

    The phrase "Don't drop it" appears to have become a tongue in cheek motto for the baton relay...

    ...and here is the sign that Brian is referring to.

    Colin is a prolific fundraiser and organiser. He has raised more than £35,000 by arranging marathons and football tournaments in memory of his son Craig who was knocked down and killed in 2010.

    He also ran in the London Marathon earlier this year.

    In a lovely moment earlier, the baton made a brief stop at it's "home" on the Isle of Cumbrae.

    The wood from the handle was sourced from an elm tree in the grounds of Garrison House on the island.

    James carried the baton in Millport earlier today.

    He has become an inspiration to many of his fellow residents on the Isle of Cumbrae. A life-long lover of golf, he refused to let losing a leg in a car accident at the age of 67 stop him playing.

    He is now an active member of the Disabled Golf Association which regularly takes part in competitions across the country.

    A pipe band welcomed the baton on to Crocodile Rock at Millport beach. The music helped add to the carnival feel of the day, as locals turned out to enjoy some ice creams as the baton arrived.

    Myra Sim completes the baton bearing quintet in the Ayrshire town of Dalry.

    Simone Sherrie, Anna Hicks and Betty Wilson also took part in the relay which saw large crowds out in force cheering on their local heroes.

    The relay is taking a short break at the moment, before departing for Kilwinning.
