  1. Baton bearer - Andrew Daviespublished at 15:20 British Summer Time 16 July 2014

    Andrew has dedicated his whole life to football - playing, coaching and managing.

    In 1968, he started coaching clubs and also managed teams for the 231 Boys Brigade for 17 years.

    He helped found the Giffnock Soccer Centre in 1995, which coaches youngsters from the age five up to 21 years of age.

    In October 2013, the soccer centre was named the Best Scottish Communities Club.

    Well done Andrew!

  2. Baton Bearer - Edwin Riachpublished at 15:11 British Summer Time 16 July 2014

    During the 1970s Edwin was an international swimmer for Scotland and Great Britain.

    He's the current chairman of the Scottish Masters Committee, which organises international competitions and also encourages people across Scotland to keep fit by getting into the pool.

    He is also a member of the Scottish Water Polo Squad and a founding member of the City of Glasgow Water Polo Team.

    Liz is a key member of the Wayside Club in Glasgow, which provides hot dinners for homeless people in the city 365 days of the year.

    She works hard to improve the club's funds and last year organised a charity dinner which raised £25,000.

    The people who nominated Liz say she is "a giving, selfless character" who lives to "improve the lives of others less fortunate than herself".

    The baton relay stopped briefly at Giffnock Tennis Squash & Hockey Club as we continue the relay in East Renfrewshire.

    The Giffnock baton bearers include Sophie Gibson, Isabella Hood, Jennifer Park and Clive Thomson.

    Dudley Walker is the first baton bearer in Giffnock as large crowds welcome the baton to the area.

    He passed the baton to teenager Ben Shaw, who was nominated for his dedication in helping people with dyslexia.

    He is a member of Dyslexia Scotland and is also a keen cross country runner.

    Rain or shine, people have turned out to support the baton bearers throughout the 40-day relay across Scotland.

    This merry group in Clarkston even have an upside down umbrella. We think this is a first for the baton relay.

    Triple Olympian Lee McConnell had the honour of running with the baton in Clarkston.

    Lee won 400m silver at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester and a 400m hurdle bronze in Melbourne 2006.

    She is one of Scotland's most decorated athletes and recently announced her retirement following the birth of her son.

    Carolyn carried the baton into Stamperland Bowling Club as the relay continued in Clarkston.

    Carolyn regularly volunteers for the BUPA Women's 10k and the Great Scottish Half Marathon.

    She was an active volunteer for the Olympic Games and now for the Commonwealth Games.

    The streets are lined with people in Clarkson as the town celebrates its local baton bearers.

    Philip Moseley and Paul Higgins were the first people to carry the baton.

    Paul was nominated for his tireless voluntary work in the community. He has organised the local scout group for the past 10 years and runs a karate club for children with autism.

    The people who nominated Paul say: "He's been instrumental in creating a special section of his karate club for children who have autism, and has taught over 200 young people."

    Interesting fact of the day - the Scot who took football to Brazil was from Busby.

    Thomas Donohoe is the alleged true father of Brazilian football, and last year a sculpture was erected in Bangu, a suburb in western Rio de Janeiro, in his honour.

    The baton has arrived in the Busby where four lucky people will run with the baton.

    They include, Eleanor Morris, Priya Gill, Mairi Watson and former Scottish bowls player Ivor Prior.

    Scottish badminton Commonwealth medallist and Olympian Susan Egelstaff is due to carry the baton later in Giffnock.

    Rosewell Primary in Midlothian emailed to wish her luck with the baton,

    "Susan has undertaken a huge amount of school visits in the build up to the Games, including our own. Her enthusiasm has truly inspired our children in Commonwealth sports, and has been key to us being awarded a Game On Scotland plaque last month. A true 2014 Games ambassador for her own city."

    There is still lots of time to see the baton relay as it travels through East Renfrewshire today.

    The next location for the baton is Busby, where it is expected to arrive at about 12:35 BST.
