    Lib Dem MSP Liam McArthur returns to the chamber after his thumping victory in Orkney, increasing his party's share of the vote by nearly 32%.

    Orkney was the first constituency to declare in the Scottish Parliament election.

    Mr McArthur was re-elected with 67% of the vote.

    SNP MSP Ruth Maguire joins her father John Finnie in the chamber, albeit in a different party, having won Cunninghame South.  

    John Finnie was elected as Scottish Green Party MSP, in the Highlands and Islands.

    Asked whether they might fall out, John said politics would be off limits at home while Ruth quipped that she had "asked him not to do any embarrassing dad stuff".

    The duo are the first family members to represent different parties in the Scottish Parliament.

    Having had six children himself, this will not have been a foreign sound to Mr Macintosh.

    It is indeed return of the Mac as Labour MSP Ken Macintosh managed to get through on the Glasgow list, having lost in Eastwood to Tory Jackson Carlaw.

    Mr Macintosh had been an MSP for Eastwood since the Scottish Parliament was created in 1999.
