    British Red Cross volunteers are in their third day of transporting health professionals to hospitals and patients across North Wales in response to the heavy snowfall.

    They have been supporting Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board by using 4x4 vehicles to carry doctors and nurses between their homes and workplaces since Tuesday.

    So far, 11 health professionals have been supported with seven expected to be given transport on Thursday evening.

    Two Newport night clubs are set to open tonight – not for revellers but for the city’s homeless.

    More than 15 people have so far taken up the offer from the Courtyard and Blind Tiger clubs, where food and non-alcoholic drinks will be given, with airbeds provided for the night.
