    The Welsh Blood Service is putting on an extra session at its Talbot Green clinic on Sunday after having to cancel a number of clinics due to the snow.

    They are asking donors who can safely travel to Pontyclun to book an appointment to help them maintain stocks.

    Nurse Helen Evans spent an hour walking through the snow to reach University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff this morning.

    She said a lot of staff made the trek in to keep the hospital running, with patients still coming in to be seen.

    "We had an 85-year-old man walk in from Fairwater for an appointment," she said.

    "That's about a three mile walk. Thankfully another patient gave him a lift home."
