While Jersey's footballers are currently 2-0 up against Orkney in the Island Games, the game's administrators will have one eye on tomorrow's Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ruling on Jersey's bid to join Uefa.

CAS will rule on the matter after the hearing on Wednesday, 28 June.

The island wants to be recognised as an international side, like Gibraltar - potentially opening the door to European Championship qualifiers and even continental football for club sides.

The Jersey FA's application was previously rejected by Uefa officials last year on the grounds that the island is not recognised as an independent state.

  2. Gallagher sets 400m island recordpublished at 17:12 British Summer Time 27 June 2017

Indi Gallagher's 56:48 time in the 400m this afternoon is a new island senior record.

The fastest previous effort came from Kimberley Goodall in 2005, when she ran 56:81.

Gallagher, who also holds the U20 record over the distance, won bronze on the Gotland track.

She was beaten by the Isle of Man's Catherine Read (54:76) and Cayman Island's Shalysa Wray (56.33).

  3. Guernsey's footballers can reach semispublished at 17:06 British Summer Time 27 June 2017

    Oscar Pearson

Standing in their way of qualification tonight is Saaremaa's footballers, a small island off the coast of Estonia.

It's a big day here for Steve Sharman's men.

All they need to do is better the Shetland islands' result tonight and they'll progress as group winners. But if they don't, they could crash out of the tournament at the first hurdle.

Ross Allen has, as expected, starred for Guernsey and Charlton Gauvain got his name on the scoresheet last night which will be a confidence boost for him - and indeed the Guernsey following.

Kick-off is at 20:00 here in Gotland, that's 19:00 BST. I'll be updating you here, on our Local Live feed.

  9. Did you know... Gotland factspublished at 16:24 British Summer Time 27 June 2017

    Rob England
    BBC News Online

    • Gotland has a population of about 57,600 of which 23,000 reside in the city of Visby
    • Visby was formally part of a confederation of market towns run by merchant guilds, known as the Hanseatic League
    • The island has 92 parishes, a concept that's pretty familiar to us in the Channel islands
    • All of Gotland's parishes have a church dating back to medieval times
    • Sundre, at the southern tip of the island, is the smallest parish with 28 inhabitants

28 inhabitants... and you thought St Mary's in Jersey was bad with just over a 1,000 residents.

    Oscar Pearson
    BBC Radio Guernsey

A clinical Guernsey men's basketball performance saw them ease past rivals Jersey to finish top of Group B.

Daniel Marriott and Jason Hooper were among the star performers for the men in green and white. Guernsey will now wait to find out who they face in the quarter finals - depending on results later.

Captain Aaron Walden told me afterwards that his side's fitness and training played a crucial part in the win today.

    Quote Message

Over the last five years we've got five wins, so we go into the game as favourites, but we are away in a place we've never been before, in a different arena, so the pressure was on us to beat them."

Clinton's father Michael Pringle was in Jersey for the anniversary. He said it had been a very hard and emotional year.
