As some of the island's top athletes compete in Gotland, Guernsey's politicians have agreed to re-instating a sport strategy for the island.

It's after the committee responsible had earlier omitted it from future plans.

President of Guernsey's Education, Sport and Culture Committee Paul Le Pelley admitted it was a mistake to drop the Sports Strategy as part of the Bailiwick's Policy and Resource Plan.

He apologised for allowing for it being removed from his committee's future priorities, with the States backing its re-reinstatement in the form of an amendment.

Approval of the plan as a whole is still subject to a further States vote.
