    Jersey women footballers

    Jersey's women have been beaten 2-1 by hosts Gotland in the semi-finals of the Island Games football.

    Ellen Olofsson's quick-fire double in the first half was enough to send her side through and the defending champions Jersey into tomorrow's bronze medal match.

    Eve Watson headed in the Jersey goal in injury time but it was too little, too late.

    The head teacher of Jersey's Les Quennevais School has said a new building is "urgently needed" after it was announced the school would closed for two days for repairs.

    Recent heavy rainfall caused ceiling tiles to come down in the main hall.

    No pupils or staff were injured, but the school reported there was "significant damage" and large parts of the school were out of use.

    Head teacher Sarah Hague said work would also be carried out to see if any other areas were damaged.

    This afternoon's mountain bike races get under way now, starting with the women's individual event then the men's is at 16:00.

    In all, there are 18 Channel Island competitors across the two races, with medal places also up for grabs in the team categories.

    Campion is a champion, again.

    Jersey shooter Sarah Campion has got her fourth Gotland gold, this time in the women's ISSF 50m Prone Smallbore Rifle.

    She edged out fellow islander Susan De Gruchy, who got her fourth medal of the games, a silver to add to her haul.

    The pair were separated by just under 10 points. Campion's gold-winning score was 598.4, while De Gruchy posted a score of 588.6.

  12. Table Tennis: Bronze for Jersey in mixed doublespublished at 13:12 British Summer Time 29 June 2017

    Jersey's mixed doubles team of Kelsey Le Maistre and Jordan Wykes has earned a bronze medal after their 3-1 defeat to Aland in the semi-finals.

    The team lost the first set 11-3, but recovered well to close the gap on the second set to 12-10 before winning the third set 11-5. The clincher was the final set, which the team lost 11-4.

    Guernsey's archers have added another medal to their haul, this time a silver in the Compound Head to Head Team Knockout.

    They were beaten 190-173 by the Faroe Islands in the final.

    Earlier, the team of Mikael Appelqvist, Zoe Gray, Kieran Kelly, Laura Le Page, Michael Marquand, James Nippers and Gen Whitham had beaten the Isle of Man 207-197 in the semi-final.

    Guernsey now have 13 archery medals, with swimming the only other sport with more (19).
