    BBC News Online

Jersey will continue to have a "meaningful dialogue" with Uefa the island's FA has said, despite the governing body resoundingly rejecting its bid to become an international football nation.

Some 49 nations decided not to back the Channel Island's bid to become Uefa's 56th member nation.

Jersey FA President Phil Austin said: “Clearly we are disappointed not to have earned sufficient support for Uefa membership today.

“I’d like to thank everyone who supported our application in the run-up to Congress and also those who were open minded about our application and took part in a conversation with us in Bratislava.

"We were consistent in presenting our case based on the strength of Jersey’s outstanding footballing credentials and potential and we hope that ongoing and meaningful dialogue with Uefa can find a solution to help the future development of Jersey football.”

    Sarah Bailey
    Broadcast Journalist, BBC Radio Jersey

People in St Helier will be asked if they are happy for the parish to spend £8.3m to refurbish St Ewolds Residential Home.
