On 14 August 2011, Damian Rzeszowski, who died in prison on Saturday, killed six people, including his wife and two children, in a knife attack at the family's St Helier flat.
At his trial, just over a year later, he was cleared of murder, but admitted manslaughter with diminished responsibility.
One of the victims was his five-year-old daughter Kinga, reported to have been stabbed "more than a dozen times."
As well as his wife and children, Rzeszowski also killed Marek Garstka, 56, Marta De La Haye, 34, and Julia De La Haye, aged five.
During his trial, Jersey's Royal Court heard that Rzeszowski's marriage had been under strain after his wife confessed to a two-month affair. Rzeszowski also threatened to take his own life, the court was told.
Psychiatrist Dr Dale Harrison said Rzeszowski was hearing voices during the incident, and "could not remember what happened."
A spokeswoman for the States of Jersey Police said the force had been notified about the death of Rzeszowski. "An investigation into his death will be carried out by the UK Police SOJP will not be issuing any further information."
