Kasabian close this year's Isle of Wight music festival

Kasabian have wrapped up this year's Isle of Wight festival finishing their set with their 2009 single Fire.

The Leicester band also played a few of their new songs, including the title track of their new album Velociraptor!

Singer Tom Meighan thanked some of the 75,000 fans who stood in the rain to watch them while introducing Shoot The Runner, off their second album Empire.

The 30-year-old said: "I take my hat off to you. Check out this rain. God Bless you."

Liam Gallagher's band Beady Eye played their first festival gig with Liam dressed in a Union Jack flag jacket.

Fireworks

Saturday night's headliners were the Foo Fighters.

Dave Grohl told fans that he was dedicating Best Of You to fellow performer Seasick Steve, who watched at the side of the stage, as he had queued up to see Dave's first band Nirvana 20 years earlier.

Pulp also joked about performing at the festival "for the first time since 1981".

Their last live UK performance was in 2002.

And Friday night's headliners, Kings Of Leon, ended their headlining set with a round of fireworks.

They were preceded by the Kaiser Chiefs with singer Ricky Wilson saying he was looking forward to being back on stage.

Other performances included Plan B, Alexandra Burke, The Vaccines and Chase and Status, who had to have a 10-minute break halfway through their set because the Big Top tent they were playing in became overcrowded.

The Isle of Wight festival was held at Seaclose Park in Newport.

Festival-goers convered on the island for the 10th anniversary of the festival which was originally held in the late 1960s.
