Leicester hate crime study calls for action from police, councils and NHS

The authors of a two-year study into hate crime have called on police, local councils and the NHS in Leicestershire to tackle the problem.

Researchers from the University of Leicester spoke to 4,000 people for the Leicester Hate Crime Project.

Study leader Dr Neil Chakraborti said the results were "heartbreaking" and "totally unacceptable".

The report calls on authorities to act faster and make ways of reporting hate crime clearer.

Det Supt David Sandall, from Leicestershire Police, urged victims to come forward.
