Former Lincoln Post Office social club to become housing

A former Lincoln social club is to be transformed into an apartment block and three townhouses.
The Post Office social club on Dunkirk Road closed its doors in September 2022 after the Covid lockdown.
Plans to convert the two-storey building into six flats and three two-bedroom townhouses have been approved by the city council.
Concerns were raised at the meeting about possible traffic problems with the parking spaces in the development.
Under the plans each apartment would get one parking space, with the town houses getting two each.
Local resident Rebecca Smith pointed out that the parking spots allocated for the townhouses were close to the junction of Mons Road and Dunkirk Road and were a potential hazard for motorists and pedestrians.
'Incredibly tight'
According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, committee chairman Bob Bushell shared her concerns and refused to support the application, noting that the development is located in an "incredibly tight area".
"I don't think this positively contributes to that area at all," he said.
However, fellow Labour councillor Gary Hewson acknowledged that the concerns were matters for highways at Lincolnshire County Council, who did not have any objections to the plans.
"I can't see any legitimate planning grounds for refusing this application," he said.
The application was passed with all but Mr Bushell voting in its favour.
