Harry Hull-Merrick has not been found despite searches by police, fire service and rescue teams, say West Mercia Police

Police have issued a name in their search for a man who disappeared after entering the River Severn.

Harry Hull-Merrick, 36, from Telford, is thought to have entered the water by the Robin Hood pub, Ironbridge, at about 22:15 BST on Friday 8 December.

Earlier this week, police released CCTV images of a man going into the water in a bid to identify him.

Searches have been carried out. West Mercia Police said officers were concerned for his safety.

"We strongly believe the man who entered the river was Harry. His family have been made aware and are being supported during this difficult time," said Det Insp Steve Goddard.

There would be an increased police presence around Ironbridge over the coming days as searches continued, but there was not believed to be anyone else involved in the disappearance, he added.

Mr Hull-Merrick is described as white, with short dark hair, of a medium build, and was last seen wearing no top and dark coloured trousers.
