A schoolgirl who was killed in a shooting in Moray died of a shotgun wound to the chest, it has been revealed.

Sophie Taylor, 16, was accidentally shot by Calum Murray, 18, at a cottage near Tomintoul on 12 April.

Her boyfriend, a trainee gamekeeper, then turned the gun on himself.

Their death certificates have revealed Sophie suffered a shotgun injury to the chest, and Mr Murray a shotgun injury to the head.

The deaths were recorded as having happened within about a minute of each other.

Hundreds of people attended the recent funeral services for the two teenagers.

Mourners gathered at the Lecht Ski Centre to celebrate Sophie's life on 25 April before she was buried at Tomintoul cemetery.

Mr Murray was buried at Alford in Aberdeenshire two days earlier.

An altered photo on a Facebook tribute page for Sophie is still being probed by Grampian Police.

The doctored Facebook image was condemned by those close to her, and was later removed.
