The Scottish Liberal Democrats have chosen Christine Jardine as their candidate for the Aberdeen Donside by-election.

The by-election was called following the death of SNP MSP Brian Adam who died last month at the age of 64 after fighting cancer.

Ms Jardine is a former BBC Scotland reporter and former special adviser to Scottish Secretary Michael Moore.

The by-election will be held on Thursday 20 June.
