Jonathan Anderson and Simone Rocha win big at Fashion Awards

Fashion designer Jonathan Anderson has won Designer of the Year at the 2024 Fashion Awards, for the second year running.

Anderson, from Magherafelt in County Londonderry, is the creative director at luxury Spanish design house Loewe, and founder of his own label JW Anderson.

Rihanna and A$AP Rocky joined stars from the worlds of fashion and entertainment for the awards at London’s Royal Albert Hall on Monday evening.

The award, which was presented by County Down actor Jamie Dornan, was to recognise a "British or international designer whose work has made a notable impact on the industry, defining the shape of global fashion".

"Nominees are recognised for creative excellence, outstanding collections and innovation," The Fashion Awards said.

Known for his innovative styles and gender-fluid designs, Anderson thanked his team and paid homage to fellow designer Tom Ford, who won the Outstanding Achievement Award.

"I love Fashion. It makes me get out of bed every morning," he added.

Earlier in the ceremony, Dublin-born designer Simone Rocha won the award for British Womenswear Designer of the Year.

It recognises a "leading British womenswear designer or business who has consistently made a global impact with their innovative and creative designs, shaping the burgeoning international womenswear landscape".

"I'm very proud of the work I've produced," she said, before thanking her team.

"My collections fuel my emotions. With this award I'd like to honour all the women and children who are displaced," she added.
