A summer lottery will return to Jersey this year, the island's economic development department has confirmed.

Poor ticket sales led to the cancellation of the Channel Islands-wide lottery, but it will be held in Jersey.

An economic development spokesman said the tickets will go on sale from Saturday 25 May.

He said there would be a new format for the summer lottery this year and details will be released next week.

The spokesman said a briefing will be held on Monday to reveal information about how it will work, the details for retailers, and the charities who will benefit.

Last year was the first time the new summer draw was held and organisers had hoped to have a £1m jackpot, but ended up giving out £450,000 in total after poor ticket sales.
