Arianna Grande was certainly pleased to grab the award for 'Artist of the Year', which she missed out on in 2015. Grande also performed her hit 'Side to Side' with Nicki Minaj before accepting the award.
Lady Gaga gave a heartfelt performance of one of her new songs 'Million Reasons'. She sang barefoot from a grass-covered stage for crowds at the AMAs. She is back this year with a new album after taking a bit of a break from music.
No awards ceremony can really be considered A-list without Justin Bieber. The 'Love yourself' star looked casual and relaxed in a baggy t-shirt and jeans on the red carpet. He walked away with a number of awards, including 'Favourite Album and 'Favourite Male Artist'.
The 'New Artist of the Year' award went to ex-One Directioner, Zayn Malik. Zayn left the 1D boys to focus on his solo career and his first album came out in March this year.
Zayn's old band mate Niall was also in attendance at the AMAs to promote his new solo album. The ex-1D singer treated the audience to a performance of his first solo single 'This Town'. One Direction announced in 2015 they would be taking a break for a while, but would be back.
