Storm Claudia clean-up continues, but could there be snow on the way?

A clean-up operation is underway in south-east Wales after Storm Claudia caused severe flooding in Monmouth.
There was a lot of disruption across the UK as parts were badly affected by strong winds and heavy rain over the weekend.
But while we might have seen the back of Storm Claudia, cold arctic air is set to sweep across parts of the UK this week.
According to weather experts, there's a possibility of snow in parts of Scotland and northern England.

Emergency services have been helping people affected by flooding in Monmouth
A major incident was declared in Monmouth over the weekend after a river nearby burst its bank following heavy rainfall.
The River Monnow reached record levels after the storm, even more than those recorded during Storm Dennis in 2020 and Storm Bert in 2024.
Storm Claudia brought more than a month's worth of rain in parts of England and Wales.
The Met Office, the UK's national weather service, says 119.6mm of rain was recorded between 6pm on Thursday and 6am on Saturday at a Natural Resources Wales rain gauge at Tafalog in Gwent.

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service helped with evacuations and welfare checks.
They dealt with more than 80 callouts by Saturday afternoon and continued with clean-up work on Sunday.
A local business owner told the BBC her shop remained open to customers despite the damage.
"It's six weeks until Christmas and I don't know what will happen before then. It's devastating."

Water levels in the river Monnow are still high
Temperatures are set to drop this week and the Met Office have put some yellow cold health alerts in place for central and northern parts of England.
Temperatures will reach highs of just 5-10 degrees Celsius for a lot of the UK over the next few days.
There may be rain and sleet, and snow could be possible in the north of the UK.
