Doctor Who Christmas special: New sonic screwdriver and Christmas goblin single

Ncuti Gatwa and a goblin from Doctor Who.

Doctor Who is back on our screens in a special episode on Christmas Day.

On Saturday, Ncuti Gatwa took over as 15th Doctor but his first full episode, The Church on Ruby Road, runs on 25 December.

In the run-up to the episode little bits of information and sneak peaks have been released - including images of the newest sonic screwdriver for the show's newest Doctor!

The sonic screwdriver is a device used by several versions of the Doctor and can open locked doors and summon the Doctor's ship, the TARDIS amongst other uses.

In photos of the episode, the screwdriver looks to be much wider than previous versions and has been described as being a little bit like a TV remote.

Also, in the run up to the Christmas Day special, a song from the episode called The Goblin Song has been released and for a time was as high as number one in the iTunes chart of top singles streamed in the United Kingdom.

The song is competing for the Christmas number one spot and money from the single is going to Children in Need.

The song is about a bunch of goblins preparing a baby as a meal for their goblin king. Festive!

You can tell us if you're excited for the Doctor's adventures, what you think of the the Goblin song or the new sonic in the comments.

Meanwhile, stay tuned to the Newsround bulletin and website as the new Doctor, Ncuti Gatwa will be appearing soon to answer YOUR questions.
