The Super Mario Bros. Movie

The most recent game to be turned into a film was The Super Mario Bros. with the movie released earlier this year.
Its release smashed box office records as the most successful global opening of all time for an animated film.
The film was based on the popular video game featuring Mario and Luigi - voiced by Chris Pratt and Charlie Day.

Pokémon: Detective Pikachu

The action-comedy film, Pokémon Detective Pikachu, was released in 2019.

Sonic the Hedgehog & Sonic the Hedgehog 2

The first Sonic the Hedgehog movie was released in 2020 but after the first trailer was released, fans didn't like the way Sonic looked!
Creators went back to the drawing board and reworked the speedy creature to make him look more like the games.
The sequel was released two years later in 2022 and there's now a third one on the way, due to be released around Christmas-time next year.
The Angry Birds Movie & The Angry Birds Movie 2

It's not just video games that have been transformed into movies, Angry Birds, which started as a game on a mobile phone, was first made into a film in 2016.
The first Angry Birds Movie went straight to number one at the box office, at the time becoming the second most successful video-game adaptation.
The sequel was then released in 2015.
Like the game, the films follow the rivalry between flightless birds and green pigs.
