Liverpool's young players beat Chelsea to League Cup title

This weekend saw Liverpool beat Chelsea in dramatic style to claim the League Cup, or Carabao Cup, for a tenth time overall, and for a second time under manager Jurgen Klopp.

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk's glancing header decided the final just two minutes from the end of extra time, leaving the score 1-0 to the Reds.

Liverpool were struggling with injuries and couldn't pick superstar players like Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, Alisson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Diogo Jota and Curtis Jones. It meant the team had to rely on young players such as Conor Bradley, age 20.

Also making a big impression were future stars from their academy including 19-year olds Bobby Clark and James McConnell, along with 18-year old Jayden Danns, seen here battling with Chelsea's Axel Disasi.

For Chelsea it was a disappointing result. They have now lost six Wembley finals on the trot, including three against Liverpool, and missed a lot of chances here.

Manager Jurgen Klopp has won seven major trophies with Liverpool but has announced he will be leaving at the end of the season. Whoever takes over will have big boots to fill!
