England came so close to winning their first European Championship, finishing Euro 2020 runners-up during the last tournament.

Can they match the success of the Lionesses and pick up their first ever Euros win this summer?

Gareth Southgate has selected his final squad that he hopes can go all the way - with stars including Jack Grealish, Harry Maguire and James Maddison all missing out.

Here are the England players heading to Euro 2024.

Dean Henderson

Dean Henderson is one of four Crystal Palace players who are heading to Germany for Euro 2024 - in fact, Palace are the most represented club in Gareth Southgate's 26-man squad.

Henderson has represented England at under-16, under-17, under-20 and under-21 level, as well as one cap for the senior team which he earned in November 2020.

Jordan Pickford

Making his England debut in 2017 and with 61 caps to his name, Jordan Pickford is one of the squad's most experienced players - with only four goalkeepers earning more caps in the history of the national team.

Jordan has played in non-League and all four professional divisions in England and became the most expensive English goalkeeper in 2017 when he joined Everton for £30m.

Aaron Ramsdale

Arsenal's Aaron Ramsdale has five senior caps to his name, but his experience goes much deeper than that.

He has represented England at all levels from under-18s through to under-21s, and in 2017 he won the Uefa Under-19 Euros - could he do the same with the senior team this summer?

Defenders

Lewis Dunk

Lewis Dunk made his international debut in November 2018, however almost five years passed before Gareth Southgate turned again to the Brighton central defender in September last year.

Consistent club form saw Dunk register more touches than any other English player in the Premier League this season - with 3,529 touches.

Joe Gomez

It's been a tough few years for Liverpool defender Joe Gomez, who suffered a season-ending knee injury during England training in November 2020, which didn't see him return to the Three Lions squad for three and a half years.

Gomez has featured regularly for the Reds this season and is known for his athleticism, pace and strength. He can also play in any of the defensive positions.

Marc Guehi

Marc Guehi faced a race against time to be fit for the Euros after undergoing knee surgery in February and only returned to the Palace squad last month.

The 23-year-old is one of his club's key players, known for his speed and strength and being reliable on the ball.

Ezri Konsa

Ezri Konsa may have only made his England debut in March this year, but he has already made four senior caps in the past three months.

The Villa defender is now off to his first major senior tournament after being a consistent and versatile player for the West Midlands side all season.

Luke Shaw

Luke Shaw, who has not played any football since mid-February because of a hamstring injury, has been included in Southgate's squad for the Euros.

He holds the record for the fastest goal ever scored in a European Championship final after putting England 1-0 ahead in the second minute of the match against Italy at Euro 2020.

John Stones

It's been more than years since John Stones first made his senior debut for England - and the experienced Manchester City defender is likely to be a key part of the Three Lions squad this summer.

The 30-year-old has been a regular for his country over the years and only missed 11 minutes of England's campaign at the last European Championship.

Kieran Trippier

Another experienced England defender is Kieran Trippier - who has often played as left-back in England's biggest games in recent times.

He has suffered with injuries this season but his ability to step up when playing for his country has no doubt helped him earn his place in the squad.

Kyle Walker

Kyle Walker is the oldest member of the England squad this summer and is seen as one of the best defenders of his generation.

The 34-year-old has remained a key player at club and international level over the years - with more than 80 England caps, he also captained Manchester City to the Premier League title this season.

Trent Alexander-Arnold

Despite making his senior debut for England in 2018, this summer's Euros will be the first European Championship for Trent.

The Liverpool midfielder was selected as part of England's Euro 2020 squad but was then withdrawn after picking up an injury which ruled him out of the tournament.

Conor Gallagher

Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher represented England at various youth levels before making his debut for the senior national team in November 2021.

The 24-year-old has regularly put in strong performances for the Blues this season and brings a lot of energy and versatility to the squad.

Kobbie Mainoo

Teenager Kobbie Mainoo only made his England debut in March after an impressive breakthrough season with Manchester United.

Known for his quick feet, balance and pace - he was voted Man of the Match after scoring the winning goal in United's FA Cup final victory over Manchester City last month.

Declan Rice

Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice has just completed his first season with the Gunners after a £100m move from West Ham last year.

A regular with the national squad, he started all seven of England's matches on their way to the Euro 2020 final.

Adam Wharton

Wharton started the 2023-24 season playing in the Championship for Blackburn Rovers before moving to Crystal Palace on transfer deadline day in February for £18m.

He settled in quickly at Palace and became an important player in helping his side end the season strongly - which earned him his first senior England call up against Bosnia & Herzegovina in June 2024.

Jude Bellingham

England and Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham might only be 20 but it's safe to say he's one of the best players in the game right now.

Last year he moved to Spanish giants Real Madrid - and in his first year in Spain he was voted La Liga's Player of the Season AND he won the biggest prize in European club football earlier this month, the Champions League.

Jarrod Bowen

Did you know that Jarrod Bowen actually made his first-team debut for non-league side Hereford United in 2014 before joining Hull City later that year.

The 27-year-old was then a regular in the Championship for two-and-a-half seasons before signing for West Ham in 2020. He was crowned Hammer of the Year this season and heads to Germany for his first senior major international tournament.

Eberechi Eze

Crystal Palace's Eberechi Eze made his first England start in their pre-Euro 2024 friendly against Bosnia & Herzegovina and impressed with his ball-carrying ability and close control.

Known for his physical strength and his ability to be calm on the ball, Eberechi goes into the tournament with four senior caps to his name.

Phil Foden

Manchester City's superstar striker Phil Foden has enjoyed his best-ever season for his club, which has seen him claim 17 goals and eight assists.

At 23, he now has six titles to his name and it's no wonder that last month he was named the Premier League's Player of the Season.

Anthony Gordon

Anthony Gordon has had an excellent season for Newcastle United and made his England debut in March this year.

He has been credited for his consistent quality this season, which has seen him score and create lots of goals for the Magpies.

Harry Kane

The Three Lions captain is England's all-time top scorer and will be an important part of Southgate's squad and their hopes of ending their 58-year wait for a major trophy this summer.

Kane has just finished an impressive first season with German side Bayern Munich - where he scored 45 goals in 45 games.

Cole Palmer

Cole Palmer has had an amazing debut season with Chelsea since his move from Manchester City last September.

He scored 22 goals this season - making him the highest scoring English player in the Premier League. He's been Chelsea's standout player and his incredible form also earned him the Premier League young player of the season award.

Bukayo Saka

Bukayo Saka has just finished a brilliant season at Arsenal and is known for delivering for England too.

The 22-year-old has won 33 caps and scored 11 goals for his country and has been named England men's player of the year for the past two seasons.

Ivan Toney

Ivan Toney scored his first England goal from the penalty spot in March, making him the first Brentford player to find the net for the Three Lions.

The 28-year-old is known for his excellent timing as well as keeping cool under pressure and for being a calm finisher.

Ollie Watkins

Ollie Watkins has had an incredible season for Aston Villa, scoring 19 goals in the Premier League and providing 13 assists as they qualified for the Champions League.

He'll be hoping to continue that form at Euro 2024 - his first major international tournament for England.
