Actor Colman Domingo (right) pictured here with his husband Raúl was a co-host of the 2025 Met Gala. Colman is well known for his flamboyant fashion which is influenced by Black dandyism.

This year's Met Gala theme was inspired by a new exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's costume institute called Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.

Gala attendees were asked to celebrate the influence of Black fashion, with a particular focus on the influence of men's style and tailoring.

The theme was called Tailored for You.

The Met Museum's website says: "The Costume Institute's spring 2025 exhibition presents a cultural and historical examination of Black style over three hundred years through the concept of dandyism."

Dandyism can trace its origins way back to 18th century Europe - dandies were men who used fashion, grooming and manners as a form of self-expression.

This year's theme was also the first time since 2003 where the gala focused exclusively on menswear.

The 18 foot long (5.4 metre) train had a sentimental meaning behind it, as it was embroidered with the names of all her children and grandchildren.
