Who are the best Young Players of the Year?

The Professional Footballers Association (PFA) have announced their shortlists for this season's Young Player of the Year.

Six footballers playing in the English Leagues have been nominated in both the men's and women's categories.

The winners are voted for by other players, meaning it gives footballers the chance to be recognised for their achievements by different teams.

Arsenal and Bournemouth lead the nominations with two players shortlisted from their clubs.

Gunners defender Myles Lewis-Skelly has made the list after enjoyed a breakthrough season for Arsenal, which also saw him score on his England debut earlier this year against Albania.

His 17-year-old teammate, winger Ethan Nwaneri, also played a big part in Arsenal's runners-up league campaign - scoring nine times in 37 appearances.

Bournemouth full-back Milos Kerkez is also among the nominees, after he appeared in every league game for his side this season.

Former Cherries defender Dean Huijsen scored a number of crucial goals, which earned him a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid earlier this month.

Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Rogers has also been recognised after contributing 14 goals and 15 assists this season.

Liam Delap recently joined Chelsea from Ipswich in a £30m deal after scoring 12 goals in the Premier League last season and rounds up the top six.

Chelsea, who finished top of the WSL last season for the sixth year in a row, have three players nominated this year.

Blues striker Aggie Beever-Jones scored nine goals for the club, and saw her also earn her place in the England squad for this summer's Euro 2025 tournament.

Her teammate, 19-year-old midfielder Weikie Kaptein also makes the shortlist, as does Chelsea striker Maiko Hamano.

Last year's PFA Young Player of the Year winner Grace Clinton is in the running to win the award for the second year in a row, after an impressive season for Manchester United.

Manchester City's Mary Fowler picks up a nomination after scoring six goals and providing seven assists in 17 WSL matches this season, before getting injured in April.

And finally, Liverpool's Olivia Smith also makes the list after finishing her first season on Merseyside as her club's top striker with nine goals.

The winners of the men's and women's awards will be announced on 19 August at a ceremony in Manchester.
