King Charles and Queen Camilla will be hosting a special tea party for people who have served in the armed forces as part of celebrations to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day.

VE Day, on 8 May 1945, marked the end of the Second World War in Europe.

This year, some of the big commemorations and events will start on 5 May.

The royal tea party will host around 50 veterans at the palace.

The King and Queen will watch a military procession on the day, which will include 1,300 members of the Armed Forces.

The Prince and Princess of Wales and Prime Minster Sir Keir Starmer will also be watching, alongside other veterans.

After the procession, the royals will return to Buckingham Palace before appearing on the balcony to watch a flypast, which is when a group of aircraft fly in a special formation as part of an important occasion.

It'll include current and historic military aircraft including the Red Arrows.

On the 6 May, the Queen will visit a new display of almost 30,000 ceramic poppies at the Tower of London.

The poppies were used in a previous art installation for the First World War in 2014.

The King and Queen will attend a service of thanksgiving with other members of the royal family at Westminster Abbey on 8 May.

There will be a national two-minute silence of reflection and remembrance and a reading from the prime minister.

The King and Queen will also attend a live celebratory concert to bring the commemorations to an end.

It'll include veterans' stories from the war and special performances of music from that generation.

Lots of other events are set to take place around the UK and important landmarks will be lit up on the evening of 6 May.
