Strictly Come Dancing: Tess and Claudia to leave the show

Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman have announced they will be leaving Strictly Come Dancing at the end of the current series.

The pair, who host the show, shared the news in a statement on Instagram.

They said: "We have loved working as a duo and hosting Strictly has been an absolute dream"

Adding "We were always going to leave together and now feels like the right time".

Tess Daly has been part of the show since the beginning, 21 years ago, when she worked alongside the late Bruce Forsyth, who was a presenter until he stepped down in 2014.

Whilst Claudia Winkleman has been part of the Strictly team since 2004.

She first presented Strictly's spin-off show, It Takes Two, then began co-presenting the Sunday night results show alongside Daly in 2010.

It was 2014 when the pair first presented the main show together.

In their leaving statement, Daly and Winkleman referenced Strictly's famous 'keep dancing' saying:

"We will cry when we say the last "keep dancing" but we will continue to say it to each other. Just possibly in tracksuit bottoms at home while holding some pizza."

Speaking about Tess, Claudia said: "I'm so so lucky I got to stand next to you. You're funny, kind, whip smart and a true friend and I love you."

Speaking about their decision Strictly Judge Motsi Mabuse said: "Going to miss you so much!"

"You're an icon and inspiration. Still in shock, but wishing you love and best wishes."

Strictly pro dancers also shared their feelings online.

Karen Hauer said: "I love you both so much. Powerhouse duo."

Michelle Tsiakkas wrote: '"You two made Strictly what it is and it just won't be the same without you😢 You're both amazing. I'm sooo grateful to have worked with you both and I wish you the best for the future."

Nancy Xu said: "I'm so grateful that came to this show and worked with the most talented in the business! It wouldn't be the same without both of you! Gonna miss you both so very much.'"

Former Strictly pro dancer Joanne Clifton said: "Omgggg …. 💔 can't believe it ! But thankyou so much for the memories.. you two are just legends and it was a privilege to be on Strictly with you."
