England are through to the quarter-finals of Euro 2025, where they will face Sweden.

But for Wales, their 6-1 defeat means they are now out of the tournament, after also losing against France and the Netherlands during the group stages.

Despite the disappointment, it was still a big moment for the Wales team and fans competing in their first ever major tournament.

Meanwhile for England, they finished runners-up in their group and will play their next game in Zurich on Thursday 17 July.

Georgia Stanway gave England their first goal with a penalty.

Soon after, Manchester United midfielder Ella Toone fired a shot into the roof of the net, giving them their second goal.

Toone also played a part in first half's other goals, helping to set things up for Lauren Hemp and Alessia Russo who scored a goal each.

In the second half substitute Beth Mead gave England their fifth goal, with help from Aggie Beever-Jones, who then went on to score the Lionesses final sixth goal.

Wales went out fighting though, with Hannah Cain scoring in the second half.

Her goal gave Wales a reason to celebrate, and although it didn't impact the overall result, it gave supporters a good memory to leave with.

For England it hadn't been a totally smooth group-stage campaign, after having to bounce back from an opening defeat by France.

But their form in recent games has led experts to say that the team looks in good shape going into the knockout stages.
